    I've done 1 sec better, but this is with a full install + av (only disabled my tv card coz. it takes 10-15 sec extra ;))
    Best reboot time was 37sec.

    Vertex2, controller in raid mode.

    edit: bet I'm gonne shave a few more secs if I use ahci only... imaging ssd now and off trying...

    edit2: well I did a fresh install of w7 in ahci mode, and my boots did get little better... especially the reboot time improved with the controller in ahci mode and no other hdd attached, racer improved less but that seems logical as the racer just measures the windows load times it was bound to be about the same.

    edit3: It seems I used a slightly different reboot time script, but the result is the same I guess...
    script used:
    Code:
    usage: remove this line and save-as "reboot-timer.vbs"

    Option Explicit
    On Error Resume Next
    Dim Wsh, Time1, Time2, Result, PathFile, MsgResult, MsgA, AppName, KeyA, KeyB, TimeDiff
    MsgA = "Please close all running applications and click on OK."
    KeyA = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reboot-Time\"
    KeyB = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Reboot-Time"
    AppName = "ReBoot-Time"
    Set Wsh = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    PathFile = """" & WScript.ScriptFullName & """"
    Result = wsh.RegRead(KeyA & "Times")
    if Result = "" then
    MsgResult = Msgbox (MsgA, vbOKCancel, AppName)
    If MsgResult = vbcancel then WScript.Quit
    Wsh.RegWrite KeyA & "Times", left(Time,8), "REG_SZ"
    Wsh.RegWrite KeyB, PathFile, "REG_SZ"
    Wsh.Run "cmd /c Shutdown -r -t 00", false, 0
    else
    Wsh.RegDelete KeyA & "Times"
    Wsh.RegDelete KeyA
    Wsh.RegDelete KeyB
    TimeDiff = DateDiff("s",Result,left(Time,8))
    MsgBox "Your computer reboots in " & TimeDiff & " seconds", VbInformation, AppName
    end if
    wscript.Quit

    I used the SSD as a single drive both times but on the first try the ICH controller was in raid mode as I have an array. The Second attempt I disconnected all harddisks, put the controller in AHCI mode and the SSD on port0 with a fresh w7 install.

    That's why 8sec was won on the reboot times.

    I did do benches on the raid0 array too in it's prime days, it was able to produce like high 30's, so add another 20 or so for bios initialsation and reboot time would have been close to 1 minute.

    If it's worth it... well I feel it's a mixed bag ... raid0 was already pretty quick I guess, ssd made it quicker, but not to the extend I'd say well worth it just for the 30sec at boottime. The real profit of running one is imo in the opening of apps and just the everyday use. It makes everything feel a bit more responsive and loadtimes of office and grapics programs improves dramatically...

    Yes, apps loading faster... I'm ff user but suppose it will work on certain aspects of ie also... ssd access time is the main advantage and it's also a lot better than a hdd handling multi-threaded I/O's, so depending on how much actually needs to be loaded (as opposed to cached in mem) it will improve.

    I think you choice for 60gb is right, because it's enough for os drive. From my 120 I'm using about 25 for w7+office+ps-cs5 and many other apps, but I did store some large and seldom referenced stuff on hdd using hardlinks. Don't get me wrong 120 is okay ;) but 60 would have done too. Also over provisioned down to 100GiB os partition leaving like 11gb unused, it seems the ssd likes a bit of extra space to shift around stuff when it's trimming.

    With the vertex one thing you have to be aware of is how the sandforce controller works, otherwise the specs could be a bit deceptive, in the sense that writes appear inflated. With random uncompressable data it's more like 80-100mb/s write, and to be fair, most stuff we touch these days already has some sort of compression, like jpg, zips, installers even office'10 docx...

    Maybe it's a good idea to first get one and get familiar with it, you can add a second one later. Putting them in raid you will lose trim, but vertex2 have some sort of garbage collection too it seems, so even without trim they should stay optimized.

    edit:
    Oh one more thing... intel is comming up with it's 3rd gen ssd shortly, so that maybe worth waiting for atm.
