Default automatic shutdown feature on my UD5?

I have a GA-X58A-UD5. I am coming from an older ABIT board.

I have a custom water cooling loop that is probably 5 years old. My MCP 655 pump is probably getting close to end of life. I don't want to buy a new one because this pump might go for a couple more years. It doesn't have a tach sensor on it unfortunately.
I'm scared of being at work, the pump fails and it fries my new I7 in a little silicon puddle.

My old ABIT board had an option in BIOS that would shut down the computer if the temperature got too hot on the cpu.

I can't seem to find something like that in my Gigabyte board (unless i'm missing something)

I'd like it to do it at the bios level instead of software because usually when the overheat it's too late for a proper shut down.

Any ideas... and if not.. what software would do this for me?

    Thanks in advance.

did you look in the power options in the bios? i think you can enable shut donw if temp reaches a desired amount, the actual cpu should have a built in temp fail safe where it would shut down the pc to save any permanent damage but it would need to reach 100c for it to kick in

    Thanks for your quick reply.
I thought I bumbled around in bios and could only find a setting for an alarm.. but not shut down.

So if the CPU has said built-in shutdown on my I7, you're saying I can sleep easy?

i think it has from what ive read,if temp reaches 100c it will shut down pc to protect itself, but ideally you want a shut down at say 80-85c just to be safe, doesnt easytune have any options? sorry im not on my gigabyte board atm so i cant look, ill have a look around at software to see if any allow you to do it

EDIT: found that coretemp lets you set a specific temp to shut down at which is pretty good, just makesure you open the program when you use the pc as i use this myself and ive found it doesnt start at start up with windows

    http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/CoreTemp64.zip 64bit

    http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/CoreTemp32.zip 32bit

just click on options/overheat protection/enable overheat protection then set the temp you want the pc to shut down at,

that option is under PC Health Status. but it only shows as a warning.. .I don't see a shutdown option.

    what version is your board?

I always prefered this option as a bios setting as OS SW could crash or the OS could crash leaving you helpless.

Yes the bios option is only a warning. The warning is a Beep sound from your System speaker if you have one attached to your motherboard. If you dont you will never hear the warning.
