have you tried underclocking ram speed slightly and testing? you might have a poorly matched set as its 2 sets of 6gb as apposed to a tested full 12gb kit

Yes. I lowered the SPD multiplier and ran it at 1066MHz. It was stable as a rock.

you can use 133x12=1333mhz ram? did you try with that? you wouldnt see any performance loss from 1600mhz to 1333mhz with 12gb anyway

A bit early to say, but so far that extra DRAMv is doing the trick.

I do HD video editing, photoshop, and some 3D stuff. along with gaming. I would like to operate at m RAM's specs, if not I'll return them.

Update: So far so good. The game normally would have crashed and BSOD'd by now. I'll leave it to scroll while I make dinner. Then run more through memtest86 and get LinX going.

If it's finally all clear I will post the BIOS settings for people to try. Thanks!

what did you use for dram voltage?

I took the DRAMv up to 1.58v from 1.56v and that together with a QPI that is 1.215v So not too high.
While the DRAMv was at 1.56v Memtest passed no problem. But Civ V still crashed hard and fast.
At 1.58 Memtest passed no problem, and Civ V played like a dream. I've never seen it play so well.
I let the screen scroll for over 30 min and played a few turns, no troubles.

Right now I'm running LinX. So far no errors. Next I'll run Memtest86. Test 5 about 20 times, Test 8 about 5, and 5 Complete tests. That should satisfy me.

I'll post BIOS settings after all that. So probably some time tomorrow.

LinX Stopped at an error. I'll try upping the QPI to 1.235... If that doesn't do it, next I'll try upping the Vcore before adding more DRAMv.

I I think I have managed to stabilize my system. I still have to run more LinX tests once I figure out how it is properly done, but so far it seemed to preform well.
First I want to thank Wazza300 for all his help.
Now, I know everyone is different, not many people will have 2x TRX3X6G1600C8D, a Core i7 930, and a UD7 Rev 1.0 on F7. I know because I looked ;) I hope someone else will find these settings useful. Note these setting are not for Overclocking, only the CPU Clock ratio is up from 20x. Otherwise these are just stable settings to run 12GB of this RAM at 1600 8-8-8-24.

    Advanced Frequency Settings:
    CPU Clock Ratio: 22x
    Uncore Clock Ratio: 24x (3200MHz)
    X.M.P.: Disabled
    Memory Multi (SPD): 12.0 (1600MHz)

    Advanced Memory Settings:
    X.M.P.: Disabled
    Memory Multi (SPD) 12.0 (1600MHz)
    Performance Enhance: Turbo
    DRAM Timing Select: Expert
    Channel A,B,C: (8-8-8-24)
    > CAS Latency Time 8
    > tRCD 8
    > tRP 8
    > tRAS 24

    Advanced Voltage Settings
    Vcore Normal (1.25626v)
QPI/VTT 1.215v (Higher voltages such as Wazza300 was suggesting are good for OC'ing because it's at a lower current)
DRAMv 1.600v (1.58v was nearly there, but LinX needed a little more)

So I ran a bunch of tests and all seemed well. It ran smoothly for about a days and a half with out issue, and then again it started behaving badly. The obvious sign is Firefox crashes. Then when I run another memtest it wouldn't pass even a single #5 pass. No settings had been changed since it passed so many other tests. And this has been the usual pattern for a while. Where I manage to stabilize it, only to have it go unstable and fail 36 hours later.

I have been running just the new 6GB I added for the last few days to see if they may be faulty. All was well until moments ago. It took a little longer, but it failed the same way it did with 12GB. So it could be the new DIMMs are bad, or it could just be bad settings. I'll continue testing it with my original stable set of RAM and see if the problem recurs with current settings. Then I may find I have more tweaking to do, or RMA on my RAM, or hopefully not, my MoBo.
