Default HD6850OC - really no option for GPU Voltage Increase?

Hi, as a fan of Gigabyte and WindForce cooler, I bought HD6850OC. I believed OC version could be better for OC. BUT:

Since it uses different voltage regulator than reference 6850, its GPU voltage cannot be increased. Or could be?

I managed to increase its voltage by one thing only - I flashed 6870 BIOS to it, and now its reporting 1.175 GPU voltage. Its almost nothing, but if GPU-Z read it right, it means its voltage can be changed somehow. I waited for RBE version 1.27 with 6850 voltage tweak support, but after flash I got card malfunction. When flashed original 6870 BIOS back from flash HDD, everything for fine again.

Is there someone who managed to increase its voltage somehow? Thanks.

For the WindForce version of the 6850, I beleive you need to use Saphire's Trixx software to over volt. If I have it right and this is a review of the OC version, it's detailed at the bottom of the first page, just before the author reveals max clocks: GIGABYTE Radeon HD 6850 1GB Video Card Overclocked - Card and Specifications :: TweakTown USA Edition

If it turns out that article is about the non OC version, then your only option thus far is to continue using a 6870 BIOS.

That shoudl be non-OC, I tried TRIXX as well. It is just sad, you buy OC card with less OC capability than normal card....

So you can't flash back the 6850 BIOS, even with a /f flag?

    Bump.

Has anyone figured this one out, yet? I just recently purchased a 6850 OC, and found out that the voltage can't be tweaked unless it is flashed to 6870 spec.

Has anyone, besides OP, done this? And is there any way to continue to increase the voltage once it's flashed?

Does the new AfterBurner increase the voltage without flashing the card?

    Thanks!

You could try the latest beta version of Afterburner, they may have added support for your card. The latest beta is 2.2.0 Beta 3
