Which slot did you test each stick in?first white slot from cpu socket? Did you repeat the test for second and third white slot? I doubt its your gpu if you say it crashes with both cards

Have you removed the cpu recently? Could be bent pin

Yea, Slot 1, after the sticks 2 / 3 shenanigans i also tried the other slots, no change. Im only thinking as of the 2b (it was prob the most freq code) although ... i dont know, theres no consistency (thats viewable)

Nope on the CPU for ages, i can do a re-seat tomorrow or whenever

I wouldn't disturb the cpu if you havnt removed it,up to you,you could carefully inspect the socket for bent pins but take care not to damage any,if you have a cpu cooler with a backplate try loosening half a turn on each screw

Well it was towards the bottom of the list, like you say as i havent removed the CPU for awile so unless pins bend by themselves...

So all unpluged, CMOS battery out overnight. With just one stick in slot (the one that passed memtest last night) and no post, hangs on C1 (only) tried the other slots, then the other dimms, the same.

Ideas? Dead ram, dead CPU or something else?

C1 is often memory, but it's hard to believe all three sticks would die at once but I guess it's possible?

Do you have or can you borrow another stick of DDR3 to test with?

Small update, it did eventually post, it worked one time, although nothing to boot from, so restarted and back to 2b hangs.

Kinda, been trying to get hold off them...

2b is graphics card, did you already test with another or in other ports, sorry can't check as I am in a hurry.

    2b Invoke vga BIOS

    2b
When the system powers on and the Debug LED shows the usual POST code sequence but hangs on 2b or you get a beep code as soon as the sequence reaches 2b, then the Mainboard cant detect your Videocard properly. Note that the POST code sequence might not halt at 2b but continue, so the final POST Code it displays could be FF, 00 or 7F which means the Maiboard booted, entered BIOS, or OC recovery kicked in and is waiting for Input to enter BIOS. Since the Videocard couldnt be detected properly you will only see a black Monitor and either 2b, FF, 00 or 7F. Check if there is something wrong with the Videocard, the PCIE slot or BUS, the Monitor or monitor cable. Turn the Monitor on and off, switch the Monitor cable from one D-SUB or DVI plug to the other in case your Videocard has two. If this doesnt help then reboot and load the optimized defaults. If that doesnt help either try another Videocard if possible, or try the Videocard in another system to make sure its working properly. Try another monitor or try the Monitor on another System.
Gigabyte Award X58 BIOS LED Debug Codes

Try with old PCI card if you have, or another PCIE and try all PCIE slots

Would a short cause these problems?

After the crashing started again, i removed the un-essentials but leaving any cables connected to the PSU/mobo, ive now removed them, and all front panel bits etc and now its back to normal (at least it seems to be) booted straight up with all sticks, stock / OCed. atm looping 3DM with prime95 in the background like nothing was wrong.

Guess i'll go look at these cables to see if theres any visable damage...

It could cause loops/crashes esp the gpu or cables are loose, could it be the psu?now that there's less components to put a strain on it? Just keep testing and see if it crashes with minimum hardware connected

Before sound, HDDs were removed (any power cables were left connected to PSU) then front LEDs/switch/USB/esata were left + any fans.

Now sound and HDDs in and connected, front panel stuff and fans x4 (exc CPU) now gone
