    Question EX58-UD5 Random Crash Collective

    Hello

    I am hoping someone can help me out.

    I've had the mobo for 2 yrs now (wow didn't realize how old it was) but now system randomly crashes, display goes to standby and the system locks. This mostly happens in idle situations and while posting, but happens just sat in the BIOS, and Windows PE. And the werid thing is it happens in groups, so since its started (Jan 1st) until 6th it only crashed, so unsable, then until 13th it was rock solid, and now back to useless. Not only is this annoying its not helping the diagnostics as i dont know if thats the cause or if its just working on that moment.

    Before 1st nothing (hardware) change using F11 BIOS.

    So far I've try/checked;

    Everything out/re-seat.
    Updated BIOS: no effect
    RAM: (several hours memset-ing each stick, and then again as a threesome) no errors (currently re-testing 5hrs 30min in)
    CPU: LinX for a couple of hours, Primed for a few more, seems ok
    OS etc: Happens in BIOS and while posting + another tried other OS, so no
    GPU: tested a spare 8400GS, random crashing continues
    PSU: swapped PSU, went from unusable to fine, (naturally i got excited as i thought maybe...) but switch back and still fine even though 60mins earlier id be lucky to get beyond post

    Tends to happen more after sleep or/and reboot (warm start) instead after being shut down over night for example.

    Nothing listed in events logs

    Anything to try or to get pointing in some (any) direction please

    Any help would be appreciated

    Could you post your full current settings for us that are failing, maybe it's a setting you are overlooking?

    Just at complete defaults.

    Memtest just passed 12Hrs 20Min, getting ready to call it a day and its goes again, but dont know what its tells me, 0 errors in 12+ Hrs but the same crash behaviour as the last couple of weeks (?)

    Have a link to your memory, or the model #?

    What BIOS are you using?

    I'll need to know the memory info for sure before I can advise, but generally auto is not suggested except only to get into the BIOS and get things going.

    So it's probably just the settings, I'll post you some to use once you give me the info on your memory.

    Well i don't normally use stock, I've have 4+ GHz OC (mostly 21*200 RAM @ 1600 7 7 7 20) since summer 2009 with no problems, its only in the last two week nothing seems to work

    So can you give me your usual 4Ghz overclock settings then, and I'll advise on those too.

    These should work for stock. Think maybe it could be a driver issue? Have you installed anything new in the past month or so that you didn't use before?

    Been too broke for h/w changes, although i did upgrade a 'older' HDD back in Nov. And im positive its nothing to do with s/w as it happens just when sat in the BIOS and pre-boot environments.

    I haven't got around to trying these yet as its decide to work again (nothing's changes ???) so I'll try when/if it start again like last time.
