Default Memory is not showing up correctly

    Hi all,

I was unable to find this directly answered already, so I figured I would ask. I have a GA-P35-DS3P rev 2.0 motherboard and 4 gigs of RAM already. I added some Mushkin enhanced 996612 PC2-8500 RAM (2 sticks that should be 2 gigs each) with not so great results. Basically, bios is only seeing 1 gig of each stick. Both sticks in there show up as 6gigs of RAM total and cause some serious instability in Windows. If I remove one of the sticks and keep only one I have 5 gigs of RAM, obviously bad. I've tried upping the voltage a bit in the bios for the memory, but even giving it 2.2 and the (G)MCH + .1 or + .2 doesn't seem to have any effect. Am I doing something wrong here?

    Thanks

I appreciate the fast reply so much.

Can you give me a recommendation then for a 2x2 kit to get me my current working 4gigs + a new 4gigs? I'd like to go with something that everyone agrees works so I don't run into any issues.

Uping the MCH voltage did not help with stability?

What is your current 2x2GB kit? It would be best to get another exact set of that.

It's this, but it's not being sold anymore unfortunately:

    Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR10664GK

These appear to be my options (can you recommend one of these for use with this board?):

    Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Memory,Desktop Memory,DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500),4GB (2 x 2GB)

And to answer the former question, upping (G)MCH did help with 1 of the 2 sticks, but with both in my system, it just couldn't handle it. Random reboots, trouble in windows, and the system not getting past POST.

By the way, you guys are great.
