    Default GA-P55A-UD3 unstable with 4X2Gb ram

    I recently built a sys with the following
    GA-P55A-UD3 VER 2 (F11)
    I5-760 2.8Ghz processor
    4x2Gb kingston DDR3 1333 RAM
    Windows 7 64bit OS

    I have no issue with 2x2gb ram but when i introduce another 2x2gb ram of the same brand and speed. I get frequently BSOD or reboot. Can someone help me with the issue?
    I have run the windows 7 memory test and also the mem checker 4.10+ and the result shows that the ram is ok without any error.

    Can you please give me your full BIOS settings in a template from my signature.

    You are setting the ram voltage manually right? If not you should, and you probably need to increase QPI/Vtt and possibly IOH as well.

    What is the BSOD you get? If it is 0x00000124 that means you need more QPI/Vtt, if it is 0x00000109 you need more Ram voltage.

    It is 0x00000124 BSOD, that means QPI/Vtt is not enough, or too much.

    Try these and see how you get along.

    Also, can you please give a link to your memory?

    There are some changes from the last post. I have exchanged my 4 pieces of 2Gb ram in exchange for 2 pieces of 4Gb ram. I also did an exchange of my P55A-UD3 Mobo with my local dealer. The problem still exist with 2x4Gb ram. When i took out 1 piece of the ram it is very stable.

    I also notice that when i plug in my usb3 portable hd and i tried to copy files out, the system will reboot without notice. I have tried all the usb port on the mobo and the problem persist. I have veified that the portable hd is working fine on other PC. I even removed the mobo out of the cpu chasis just in case of any short circuit caused by it. The reboot still happens.

    Thanks for the help so far. I will try out the recommended setting and get back to you.

    Thanks for the info!

    So same 0x00000124 BSOD with 8GB still, if so you need more QPI/Vtt as mentioned above.

    What USB 3 setting do you have enabled in the BIOS, I know there is turbo and normal function

    Settings above should be fine for the new memory as well, just change the Main timings to 999-24
