Default Value of current gut of system i'm upgrading?

Apologies if there is a better place for this and mods feel free to move or delete if it's inappropriate.

I built this system on 9/2008 and am upgrading. It has performed flawlessly to this point -

    Gigabyte GA-EP45-DSR (latest non-beta BIOS)
Intel E8400 running 100% stable 24/7/365 at 3.6gz with aftermarket cooler (forget what make but works great)
    4 GB Mushkin DDR2 memory
    ATI 4870 1Gb card

If it isn't worth selling/shipping i'll transfer it into one of several systems here or at friends homes..

    Thanks for any input!

Hey that's still a reasonable system, if you want to get rid of it why don't you part it out and flog the components on fleabay and try and make some cash for an upgrade?

Any idea on a reasonable asking price for the components? The Mushkin is PC9500 IIRC..

Thanks Darkje, I was thinking $250.00+/- US would be about right so I was pretty close.

I agree, still plenty of life in those parts and I'm sure you could sell them all.

Here's what I'd probably charge on ebay

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DSR = $75-125 depending on how quick you want it to sell.
    Intel E8400 = $100-125
4 GB Mushkin DDR2 $60-100 depending on the model.
    ATI 4870 1Gb card = $100-150

Keep in mind you can always look at completed sales on ebay (Must be signed in)

$250 isn't too bad but I'm pretty sure you could have gotten almost double that IMO.

I sold some of my old components a couple of days ago and got the following:

    EP45-UD3P: 89
    4Gb Corsair XMS 2 DDR-1066: 51
    Core 2 Duo E7400 (OEM, no HSF) : 46

I'm expecting my two HD 4850's to fetch about 50-65 each when I put them on (Scythe Musashi HSF's, modded BIOS with 725/1100 clocks).

It's easy to under estimate the value of older components, but in reality the performance gap between them and even Sandy Bridge, clock for clock when gaming really isn't huge. I'm expecting a 4GB set of DDR3 to actually make less cash than I sold the DDR2 for, so in some cases older tech can demand a price premium as it's harder to find brand new.
