No problem! My tired eyes didn't even see it was you that linked me, and you I was quoting to correct :)

Thanks again for the link, very informative!

Na, just to be sure run from Gigabyte's i-Ram Instead of running anything off the Intel SATA/USB ports! Haha

Yes, best not use anything from Intel motherboards... wait, that might be hard ;) whats next? running @ stock perhaps. It might be that this problem has grown out of proportions. Time will show.

    in answer to the original
Unfortunately it probably will affect you and it will be Gigabytes problem also if they shipped 1155 mbrds with the after 1st week in january chipsets.
Thats probably a given since they make what is it 9 million mbrds a year in nanking(obviously a lot would be locked bios ones for oem).

Not their fault no but you wont be rmaing your gigabyte mbrd to intel and they will want the original mbrd back.Gigabyte or intel wont want dodgy chipset mbrds flooding ebay.

Its like if you buy a psu say and some models have capacitors that have a lower than expected lifespan .Who is gonna fix it..not the capacitor supplier.

If you need a fix you will be contacting Gigabyte unless your one of those whois willing to chance that the problem wont affect them.Gigabyte/intel wont want that either for the same reason as above .

Im sure they will be releasing affected batch numbers/ mbrd manufacture dates..or they may have to go "total recall".

Having anything working off sata 2 especially in raid would just make u nervous, was that a strange sound from my hdd.. etc.

The ud7 has some special chip from nvidia to expand out the pcie lanes? I think it has a 200 in the name . whether its a replacement for the intel 200 or not I dont know.

    What will happen?.
I would see anyone who bought a 1155 board with intel sata 2 controller from any manufacturer prior to the release of the new upgraded boards will be able to claim a replacement and intel will be paying for it.
They all have "intel inside" after all :0

How long all this will take who knows but it will probably set intel's release date schedule back a bit .

For me its back to sitting on the fence for awhile.its not as tho u can buy any 1155 stuff now anyway.
em hugs his lga 775 :0
