Default GA-EP43-DS3L (rev. 1.0) BIOS version F9h Settings

    Hello to all.

I have mobo GA-EP43-DS3L (rev. 1.0) F9h version of BIOS.
CPU is Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33Ghz. I want to OC a bit (2,66 or 2,80 even better). :)
I have just bought new RAM which is Kingston PC2-8500 CL5 (KHX8500D2K2/4G) rated as 1066Mhz. I have four of them, so 8GB.
Video card is Sapphire Radeon HD 6870.
Here are the settings of BIOS:

So, why my RAM doesn't show Memory Frequency 1066Mhz? CPU-Z also shows that RAM is PC2-6400 (400Mhz), not PC2-8500, as it should be!?
I have changed Standard Timing Control to 5,5,5,15 (BIOS default shows 5,5,5,18). I have tried to set DRAM Voltage to 2.2V (cause i know this RAM is rated for 2.2V), but strange thing happened... my CPU FAN Speed goes to fully up (around 2500 RPM (normally on idle is around 1400 RPM). I don't get it what has DRAM Voltage to do with CPU FAN Speed!? And CPU temperature does not increase. If I set to 2.1V then it's OK.

Any ideas with settings in BIOS or why my CPU FAN Speed goes nuts?

    Thanks.

What CPU cooler do you have?

The 700 clock drives suggest you began with fail-safe defaults, load optimized defaults first.

With voltages on auto some of them may be set too high, ca you post EasyTune -> Advanced -> Voltage tab screen capture?

Memory frequency is the result of memory multiplier and host frequency. For 380 FSB there is no miltiplier to set them at 1066, try 2.66D for 1010.

2.9GHz is about the maximum you will be able to get with P43 chipset.

Are those with the settings you have posted?
Load optimized defaults, and try the following settings for 2.66GHz

Try lower voltages first, try to increment vcore and MCH Core first then the others if still not stable.
Watch over core temperatures with Core Temp/RealTemp/HWMonitor (CPUID) whichever you prefer.

    Yes, these are my settings.
I have tried with your settings, but the computer beeps and it goes to BIOS with a warning.
Maybe CPU doesn't support running RAM at 1066?

    "MCH Core…………......................…...: 1.100V [1.16-1.24]" I can't set this values. I can set only 1.100, 1.200, 1.300, 1.400.

    Thanks for your help.

I still don't get it why DRAM voltage 2,2V maximize CPU FAN speed. I've done a lot of googling and i didn't notice anyone with that problem.

I have found this on some forum:
"ddr2-800 is as fast as it gets with sane fsb400. overclocking higher than fsb 400, ddr2-800 is only usefull untill ddr2-1066, fsb 533.

And like said before, most ddr2-800 kits go to 1066 with relative ease.

EVERYTHING above fsb 533/ ddr1066 is useless. Face it, acknowledge it, learn it.

Daredevils that push their system to 600+fsb do so for a very short of time just to prove that they can. Not many of those and usefulness of these test is debatable."

Maybe I should just leave as it is now at 912Mhz.

Can you check bus and memory speed with CPU-Z for those settings?

    Use 1.2.

Check the adbanced voltage tab when you change this to 2.2v.
DDR2 8500 is programed as PC-6400 for compatibility reasons because it does not meet the JEDEC standards. If at all the DDR-1066 settings are programed as EPP profile.

    CPU-Z:
    CPU-Z Validator 3.1
    I've OC-ed a little more. :)

Hm, I don't see any advantaced voltage tab in BIOS.
