    Glad to help out.
You'll have to search the web for more info that deals with Bluetooth operation with TPM or other BT hardware.
Let us know what you find out.

    profJim,
How is the ZM-MFC2 controller, watt meter & temp probes? I like the concept of being able to watch your power use. How does it do that? I will find out, about the BT, when I get one.;-)

The Zalman ZM-MFC2 controller is a bit of a mixed bag:
    • The LED screen has small numerical data display and very limited off-axis viewing angles.
    • Fan speed adjustments are easy.
    • All four temperature probes are very accurate.
    • The unit takes up only one full 5.25" bay in the front of the case.
From the attached diagram, it looks like the CVS unit is simply an ammeter that monitors the psu's amperage/wattage draw and sends the data to the from panel display.
Download and take a look at the MFC2 user manual to see how easy it is to hook up the power meter setup.
The MFC2 unit might be EOL (end of life) and the MFC3 is a somewhat newer model.
Most of the MFC2 reviews discussed the limited viewing angle as a possible deal breaker.

You can check out other Zalman fan controllers, as well as similar units made by NZXT, AeroCool, and others.

Bet you'd never guess that I'm color blind. (just kidding)

    profJim & Chike,
Thank you for the information. The AeroCool unit has a pair of USB connections on it as well as a Multi format card reader with temp alarms for four fans but does not control them it also has an eSATA connection that I have no idea what to do with. My Raid card has an eSATA outlet on it so if I ever want to expand that way I can use it but I do not know what to do with the AeroCool's connector. Do you know how to use it? I know that eSATA allows longer cable lengths but I do not see any such outlets on the MB do you know if the plugs, male internal female external, can be used with regular SATA?
I purchased a GA-EP45-UD3P, GAEP45UD3P on eBay for $160.00 and should have it by first of next week. Then it will be mount it and set up the BIOS. More Memtest, Prime and IBT for me! Oh well, it is an upgrade and my wife did not kill me (yet.) Any "heads up" would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    BD
BTW: I think I had to much TIM in my previous installation. May explain the high temps (50c to 70c w/35c ambient) I was seeing with the cooler I was using. Lapped the processor and found it to be quite concave also. Have some pictures I'll post later.

There are no e-sata connectors on the motherboard.
One of my computer cases has an external hot-swap bay and the internal data cable for this bay plugs in to one of the female mobo sata connectors. This bay also has a power cable that needs to be connected to a psu cable to provide electrical power to this bay. One of my other computer cases has a built-in female e-sata socket on the front panel. There is an internal sata cable that needs to be plugged in to one of the motherboard's sata connectors. I have a 1TB hard drive in an external self-powered enclosure that uses an e-sata cable to connect to the front panel e-sata socket. With Win7, the hot-swap feature is nice when I want to temporarily connect my external backup drive after my system has booted and I can "safely remove" this drive after I'm done with my backup. I'm pretty sure that XP supports hot-swapping, but I don't know if there are any specific steps that are needed to enable hot-swapping.
Note: The internal sata connectors can be on the motherboard or on an internal sata/raid pci card.

Your new EP45-UD3P should come with a rear panel e-sata bracket that can connect e-sata drives to your system. Naturally the two sata cables for this bracket will need to be connected to internal sata sockets inside your case.

The two gsata (purple) sata connectors should be used for your sata optical drive and/or any hard drives where maximum throughput performance isn't required.

Using too much TIM will result in less heat transfer to the heatsink and higher component temperatures.

    profJim,
Thanks for the information. I tried to use an extension on a SATA plug and HDtuner Pro reported communication errors. I then used another drive (another Raptor 150) but it was a "enterprise drive" and it worked just fine. Checking on the eSATA specs I found that the length of a SATA cable is supposed to max at ~18" and the eSATA has longer capabilities also there is something about the plugs that provides for static protection and longer usable life. Evidently the SATA cables are not meant to be plugged in and out repeatedly. Also eSATA does not have the little ridge on the side of the connector. eSATA seems like an interface that has to be used with care. I wonder why AeroCool put a plug that does not typically have a receptacle on the MB? Ah, life is full of mysteries.
    Thank you.

I think that the Western Digital website said that sata connections only have a "designed useful life" of 50 connections.
Is this for drive/cable/socket connections? I don't know.

The AeroCool Touch 2000 "user manual" wasn't at all helpful.
The attached photo (with my comments) was found by following their link to the ProClockers AeroCool Touch 2000 review (page 3).

    profJim,
That's what they do, a sex and species change all in one! I do not have any electronics in between the SATA and the eSATA does yours? I do not see how they accomplish the "species" change. Do you? I think it is bogus.

There are two types of eSATA, one does not require power, if that is what you were thinking about.

    profJim,
No, I just mean that, just for starters, the difference in the length specification (and timing) between the two communication specifications and the fact that, while you can plug a SATA into the back of the AeroCooler, you can not plug a SATA into the front of it nor can you plug a eSATA into a hard drive. As far as I know the the operational specs are different so if you plug the SATA from your board into the back of the AeroCooler and then try to use the AeroCooler's eSATA port on the front you will be in violation of the eSATA specifications.
Cheers! Did you wear Green today? Drink green beer? It's St Patrick's Day!!! reason enough to tip a Flagon. ;-)
