I can update a BIOS for you if you want, I've had to mod a X48 Dell BIOS for someone not long ago to work with SSD's
Re: XPS 420 Bios A07 ICH9R sata raid controller does not support SSD, why won't Dell release an update? - Desktop General Hardware Forum - Desktop - Dell Community

You may just need an updated RAID ROM, but some have not been able to use RST with X48 at all even with the Mod.

If you want a BIOS let me know, I'll make you one with RST 10 ROM, and one with 8.5 ROM

Actually, here I already modified a X48-DQ6 BIOS for someone else not long ago. Tested and working

This one has 9.6 RAID ROM (BIOS F8i)
    X48-DQ6 F8i MOD.zip

If that fails to help your SSD or RST issues let me know and I'll make you the ones mentioned above.

    RST 9.6 doesn't support my ICH9 chipset.
    From the 9.6 ReadMe file:

functionality for the following Storage Controllers:

FWIW, trim is currently supported with the OCZ Sandforce drives up to RST 9.6.
RST 10.6 does NOT support trim for OCZ Sandforce drives. This might change with a future ssd firmware update.
I don't know if this limitation applies to Sandforce drives from other manufacturers.

Ahh ok. Did you already try modifying in a RAID ROM anyway, just wondering?

I'm downloading the latest BIOS now to have a look, it may already be using a RAID ROM anyway, if so you can update it.

Do you know any other BIOSes from P35 with ICH9 only that do work? If so link me and I'll grab the files and update a BIOS for you

For those with ICH9/ICH9R X48 that are having boot issues with the RST 10 drivers, please post what CD/DVD drive you are using.

Thanks, and if your wondering why I asked, remove the CD/DVD drive and test to see if this is what's stopping you from booting. A fellow helper at Crucial forums had a similar issue a while back, and it's been narrowed down to his CD/DVD drive causing the problem

These were the specific drives, and he has talked with Intel directly and they are aware of the issue, and they are supposed to "Be looking into it"

Pioneer DVR215 and DVR216 - He said Intel was not Model specific either, so other Pioneers could be causing problems too.
