Can you, or have you, tested with Vista or Windows 7? Maybe it is a XP x64 or XP in general bug? Also, have you or can you test with another drive as the main OS drive, maybe there is something wrong with the drive itself?

Do that testing on the Intel controller please.

Marvell drivers are not needed ever unless you are using RAID, and I HIGHLY Suggest you do not use them as they are very unstable IMO.

Intel is better because of it's overall 4K speeds and cache rates, that is why you see the faster speeds and higher burst rate, which is why I suggested you use that controller.

See the link in my signature and check out my C300 review, it will show you Marvell Vs Intel in many ways.

I did tested with all operating systems 86,x64, 7 on IDE and most of the times on Raid0 configurations under Marvell and now Intel controller after fallowing your and other people suggestion to switch to Intel.

Recently i've notice not only external HD is getting pause for a minute or more when the file is larger then 4 gig but also internal HD for a bet (5sec) at 70% of transfer. That is not big concern because is not effecting my other work.
When I unpack or just transfer smaller file up to 4 gig of size it is going very fast and smooth no problem.
When I try to transfer file to external HD my network media player freezes a picture (slow motions).
The other think, if I use 7zip and unpack batch of rars larger then 4 gig to external HD it will take mach longer to do so (the transfer rate is around 22mb/s) and is ending without freeze.
If I use same batch of files and try to unar with winrar 64bit the speed is extremely fast and at 70% freezes for a minute.Same think happen with just transfer larger files over 4 gig.
I will attached some video clip on the weekend.
    Thanks for looking.

Maybe it is a bug in winrar then? I used version 3.8 before I believe (Not sure, may be 4.00 beta 3 I have installed now?), so maybe try older versions and see if that matters or not

    Hi,
Winrar is fine since I try with winzip and acts exactly the same.Remember not only unraring but also transfer large files over 4 gig causing freeze on some of the programs like Mozilla.
Please take a look on the 2 videos:
click only close to play (inside the video screen) to avoid pop ups

    large file transfer.avi - 3.64MB
    unrar93chanks_50meg_total4.7gig_mkvFile.avi - 3.83MB

    Thanks for looking
