    Default GA-P67A-UD4 - Bios F7. F12 to get into boot mode restarts PC

    G'day all,

    Have a P67A-UD4 with BIOS 7 - USB keyboard.

    When posting, attempting to hit F12 to take me to boot menu so i can boot from CD (I have HDD set in normal boot process to get rid of nasty "Loading operating system" lag.

    After pressing F12 a couple of times the machine just reboots. Happens all the time.

    Any clue?

    (CPU is 2600K)

    I think I may have just gave you my thoughts at the UK forum :)

    That's all you can do really, either update the BIOS to see if it is a BIOS USB bug or compatibility issue, or try a PS/2 keyboard.

    Make sure if your F keys have dual function that you hit F lock, sometimes it's not enabled by default during bootup. So try hitting that once first if you have it, if not you'll have to try one of the above mentioned methods

    Thanks. :) Still keen to see if it's just me, or if everyone else has moved off of F7 by now ;)

    Most users here always use the latest BIOS, being that many are overclockers they want the latest and greatest. So there probably isn't many still using it, or many that ever did actually.

    I personally never use any of the final BIOSes, always beta, unless specifically asked by someone to test something in a final.

    I have the same problem with bios F7.

    I also had the same problem with old versions. Well it randomly worked!

    I've been looking around to see if someone else has the same problem!

    It also happens when I press F9 (XPRESS RECOVERY2), but I assumed it was because I hadn't set it up!

    Hi there!

    I'm on F7 as well with my P67A-UD7.

    I had the same problem. The point is that I'm using AHCI as HDD mode.

    So I had to switch from the "Non-EFI" to "EFI" mode concernig the CD/DVD drive setting. After that, F12 is now working fine for me.

    Did you overclock the system? If yes, which BIOS settings you configured?
    Which SATA port you connect the HDD? Is it the 3TB size HDD? Is it in non-EFI, EFI or AUTO mode in BIOS menu?

    My suggestion: Try hit the F12 key slower when POST (DO NOT hit the key before the POST screen appear) and the problem might be solved.

    I tried “Non-EFI” & “EFI”, the boot menu did appear once. But it’s still very random. It changed it back to Auto.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    I’ve only overclocked with easy tune to 3.9Mhz that all. Most setting are Default<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    Using both 6gb/s SATA<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    SATA3_0 = HDD (1TB)<o:p></o:p>
    SATA3_1 = DVD writer<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    I’ve also tried hitting F12 slowly and at different stages, but it still resets.<o:p></o:p>

    yep i get the same problem too. I work around it by just pressing it later in the boot screen.
