You need to post your current cpu,qpi/vtt and dram voltages, you could lower temps abit by reducing voltages

Thanks Wazza300 for the fast response.

My current BIOS settings for GA X58A-UD3R Rev 2 is:

    Advanced Memory Settings
    Performance Enhance (Set to Standard)
    DRam Timing (Set to Quick)
    Timing is 9 9 9 21

    Advanced Voltage Settings
Everything is set to Auto so QPI/VTT and DRam is Auto.

    My memory is: Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 Tri PC10666 1333MHz

    You're worrying over nothing

Your CPU temps are fine. At that ambient you aren't going to see much better. If you want to try and reduce the further, go ahead, but there is absolutly nothing to panic about.

I agree, the temps as relatively much the same as mine for the same components - so on a sample of two its probably OK

However, I am interested that it appears the FE BIOS is causing the processor to run hotter than the older FA BIOS. I've dropped an email query to Gigabytes T/S and will let you know what they say in due course.

Other than that I'm not losing any sleep over it!

    Cheers.

Auto might be ok for stock clocks however 9 times out of 10 you can lower voltages,if you were overclockong then I would always manually set voltages esp the main 3 voltages which are cpu,qpi/vtt and dram
I would manually set your dram voltage according to your ram,it will be printed on the module, either 1.5 or 1.66v,as for cpu and qpi/vtt look in the bios and tell me what auto is setting them to

Thumbs up Re: Is my CPU temps normal or ???

    Thanks for all the responses....

The bios auto setting is utilizing the following values:

    CPU Vcore 1.28750v

    QPI/VTT 1.175V

DRam 1.50v (which is correct, I pulled a DRAM and it did indicate 1.50v)

One other question my DDR3 states it supports 1333 mhz but is only current utilizing 1066 is it the multiplier that changes this? and what should I set it to?

    Thanks

    Hi Azmothman
I've just looked at my settings in the BIOS and notice the same issue with memory also running at 1066.

(Out of interest, my CPU temp has been set by Auto to 1.24375; QPI/Vtt = 1.175v and DRAM 1.5)

However, I notice that the BIOS screen (M.I.T Status) shows my core temps as temps as 32, 31, 31, 29

After booting, CoreTemp utility reports the Core temperature nearly 10c higher, where they remain on idle!

Are you seeing the same thing?

    Cheers

I just restarted my machine to check the MIT temp readings, which were:

    40 38 38 36

Then after exiting the bios and going into Windows then the Coretemp readings are:

    44 41 42 40

My ambient temp is 26 C

For both of you above I would set cpu voltage to normal setting in cpu voltage list, and set you spd system memory multiplier to 10x to give you 1333mhz ram speed,as for qpi/vtt if it stays on the same 1.175v after you've raised ram speed and the pc is stable then I would leave it on auto

Thanks Wassa300, I appreciate your help.

I'm now running DRAM at 1333, and QPI/Vtt remains at 1.175

    Seems OK at present

Regarding the core temperature, the MIT screen now shows 35, 35, 34, 32 and CoreTemp shows 41, 43, 42, 40

The core temps have increased by nearly 2c - is that to be expected?

    Thanks
