    Default Overclocking problem

    Hi guys i have a i7 920 and a gigabite x58-udr3,i try to overclock my cpu but when i do the computer boots for around 5 seconds and shuts down,sorry guys i am new to overclocking,i have a cpu cooler and i cant figure out the problem,i am guessing that it maybe my RAM setting,i have my ram set to 8,8,8,24 in bios and it still wont boot,any help would be great,thanks all,also if someone has a stable OC setting,s could you please post it up,i would be so greatfull

    What do you want to clock to?look in my Sig for oc guides,its just a rough guide,if you want to clock lower then post back n ill help best I can,what cpu cooler do you have?

    Hi m8 thanks for your relpy my cpu cooler is a Scythe Mugen 2,i would love to overclock my cpu to 3.8 of 4.0 gig,i have tryed to overclock it a few times with bios settings that i have found on the web,but when i overclock and my computer reboots the computer only stays on for around 5 or 6 seconds and reboots again and again,any help would be great m8,and thanks again

    Try 3.8ghz first and take it from there,all you need to change is the bclk to 21x180,
    Set cpu voltage to normal in cpu voltage list,
    Set dram voltage according to your ram
    Set qpi/vtt voltage to 1.315v
    Set the memory multiplier to 8x(this will rum ram at 1440mhz due to a 180bclk)
    And finally set uncore freq to 17x

    Try those and see how you get on

    Hey m8 i have tryed the settings that you have left for me and they are working prefectly,the only thing for some reason my CPU Clock ratio changes back to 20 when i check in cpu-z and i have set it to 21,i have have tryed intelburn test v2 with two of them running at the same time and everything is fine,and my cpu temp goes up to 65 degrees while doing that test,do you think i will be able to get much more out off my cpu,and thanks so much for the help

    Makesure Intel turbo boost is enabled in bios for 21x,you should be able to hit 4.2ghz,what are coretemps like at 3.8ghz?
