    Question GA-890GPA-UD3H v2.1 DPC/ISR latency

I purchased/built this computer in November and noticed some sluggish Windows and IE 8 performance, but not bad. I use mostly chrome and don't have the same slow response. So this wasn't a big deal to me until recently when I decided to pick up gaming again.
I have tried every thing that I can think of and find on the web. I'll list what I have tried.

    With only 4290 IGP
    With Sapphire 6870
Updated drivers to Gigabyte suggested drivers
    Updated with AMD drivers
    Turned off integrated peripherals.

Any help/ideas. Please. I have run LatencyMon and xperf. These were pointing me to sata and usb, but updating drivers didn't help.

Did you install any of GB software that came with the board, and if yes which?

I am running Windows 7 pro x64. I didn't load the software from the Gigabyte disc. I used the drivers from Gigabyte support page for the motherboard. I also tried updated drivers from AMD. I also installed the most recent BIOS FF for my board.

Did you load OPTIMIZED BIOS Settings immediately after your bios flash?
After loading these settings, save settings, exit bios, and boot immediately back into the bios. Then apply any need bios setting changes including AHCI/Raid settings (if needed), and any other needed settings.
With an updated bios, your previous bios settings might need some minor tweaks to insure stability.

Thanks for responding. I actually didn't do that. I will go try now. The BIOS flash did improve the situation though. Before w/ DPC LatencyChecker I was getting constant red bars of 6000-8000. Now I get mostly under 100, but it spikes to almost 4000 episodically. Usually one red bar, sometimes two, occurring anywhere from 10 to 30 sec apart.

It is much improved from my original state. I am now getting spikes only when putting load on the system. It is idling 30-40, nice. I'm still getting spikes though, to just above 2000. When I launch web browser it spikes once, but when at the Windows Update site I click Check for Updates and I get three red bars in a row. I ran Latency Monitor while doing this. The biggest culprits were netbt.sys; storport.sys and usbport.sys. So I'm figuting i'n down to driver issues. Am I correct?

Thank you for helping out. This has been rather frustrating. I just got the HD 6870 and when I ran 3Dmark 11 I got P2200 on default, not good.

I have the RAM on auto and it loads from SPD, 9-9-9-24 at 1600. The memory is stable under memtest86 and computer is prime95, wprime and gaming stable. I haven't been gaming much though because I have been trying to figure this out.

    Are you low on memory?
Major or hard page fault involves disk access
