    Cool, thanks for the replies profJim and Chike.

    I got the bub to sleep (2 hours of settling him )so now for some testing.

    I will start by lowering RAM voltage back to 1.5v and setting Advanced mem timings to Auto. Then start pushing up the FSB and CPU to desired 3.8ghz.

    The following info is for use later, after you've reached your "final" stable overclock:
    • You might be able to use 8-x-x-xx primary timings with memory speeds below ~ 1450MHz.
    • Some of the advanced memory timings displayed in Memset don't exactly correspond with manually set bios timings. This isn't a Memset bug.
    • The following information and the attached picture are from Lsdme's http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...t-vs-bios.html thread:

    Suggested Settings for P35/P45 Boards....
    ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)___________ 3-4
    Rank Write to READ Delay (tWTR)__ (4-6) 9-11 (Note Actual Value set in BIOS Vs. What system Uses will be 7+)
    Write to Precharge Delay (tWR)_____ 3-5 (Note Actual Value set in BIOS Vs. What system Uses will be 5+)

    Keep in mind that the above recommendations are for DDR2 memory.
    Double check the displayed EasyTune6 voltages, especially if you use the XMP profile option. I've seen several P45 systems where XMP seriously over-volted some settings, especially if AUTO was used. I don't recall if this was only for DDR2 setups.
    With tighter timings and lowered tRD, some voltage settings will probably need to be increased somewhat.

    One of the settings that is often looked over is the DIMM clock skew.
    At high frequency it is possible that it is needs to be teaked.
    Once you have 3.8GHz stable and if you still want the ram to run at full speed you may try it.
    I would start with FSB 475MHz and one DIMM installed and then try tweaking the DIMM clock skew, once it is working if at all, try with the other DIMM installed, then both f them.

    I had a bit of win :)

    This is more of an every day solution: 424 x 8.5 3604mhz, 1413 RAM at XMP Profile one. All at normal voltages except MCH at 1.3v (see below for pic and bios settings).

    These are settings that I can use everyday and I'll save the bios profile as profJim suggested.

    Am I correct in thinking that if I have the CPU Core set to [NORMAL] that C1E or EIST will not be able to alter that value to save power?
    It would be good if it could lower the voltage in idle as this will be my everyday settings.

    From here I will try for the 3.8ghz setup to use if 3.6ghz isn't enough.

    With C1E and EIST CPU ratio and vcore will drop automatically when set to normal or auto, only question is if it will be stable.
    Did you run IBT or Prime95? What core temps are like under full load?

    Cool, I'll give it a try with them enabled.

    I ran IBT a couple of loops at maximum. Then some gaming, the 3DMark Vantage and PCMark Vantage. Also in and out of sleep which has worked perfectly so far. Hope I didn't just jinx it.

    CPU temps didn't go over 64c. They are sitting at 32-37c at about 20c ambient.

    I wouldn't worry about voltages, you still far from limits and temps are good.

    That is the output from Intel Burn Test. Not really sure what it is but it does give me measure of how much faster the CPU is with new settings. At a guess I would say Giga Floating Point Operations Per Second.

    EDIT: enabled C1E and EIST and I see the volts and multiplier going up and down. It has come out of sleep once so I might be good. If so that is pretty awesome, I never would have tried those settings with the default voltages without yours and profJim's help :)
    I think the big issue may have been too low MCH Core, now at 1.3v the board handles everything else just fine.

    I'm pretty sure that he wanted to know what your IBT Gflops score was.

    Oopsies, hehe.

    I thought he was referring to my overclock spreadsheet. At the top there is a score for each overclock attempt.

    The latest 3604mhz one got 48.502 GFLOPS.
