    I am surprised you made it to 3.6GHz with stock vcore, but 3.8GHz most unlikely to do that.

    From 400MHz and higher you can use the "B" or "D" memory straps. Some find that it's easier to get their systems stable when using the D-strap.
    With cpu bus speed:

    • 400 ~ 420, tRD = 7 with the B-strap.
    • 421 ~ 460, tRD = 8 with the B-strap.
    • 461 ~ 500+, tRD = 9 or 10 with the B-strap.
    • With the same cpu bus speed and using the D-strap, tRD will need to be set +1 step higher than the B-strap setting up to about 480MHz.
    • ~ 480MHz and higher with the D-strap, tRD can usually be set 1 step lower than the B-Strap.
    • Lower (tighter) tRD settings give somewhat better memory performance in benchmarks.
    To run/test with tRD = 8, you would need to use the 3.20B memory multiplier.

    Check out the different MaxxMem2 benchmark results taken during the first hour where no other programs were run between tests. These results were quite a bit closer to each other compared with past tests.

    This board is the biggest pain in the ass. I had two about a year and half ago or so. I can make 2 suggestions, one up the VTT voltage, the other sell it and get something else. This board can not even come close to the DDR2 ver.

    I have just tried that theory. My board won't boot with 414x2.00B tRD 7, either 800 or 1066 driving strength, 2.00D did with driving strench 800(haven't tried 1066).
    Just a quick experiment, didn't test stability.

    Interesting MaxxMem2 scores, clearly your 3MB of L2 cache (E7500) easily beats my E6300 (R0) 2MB of L2 cache. The 2MB of L2 cache doesn't do all that great with SuperPI times.

    With my EP45-UD3P (rev 1.0) mobo, I had no trouble using the B-strap up to nearly 500MHz. Comparing the B-strap and D-strap memory benchmarks, the B-strap was always sever hundred (or more) MHz higher than the the same memory timings (with different tRD values) using Everest and RightMark benchmarks up to about 460MHz.

    In the 480 - 490MHz range, the D-strap easily beat the B-strap benchmarks by a similar amount, where the D-strap's tRD setting was now one step tighter (lower) than the B-strap. My results were so outstanding that Kick stole my D-strap's (patent pending) 492MHz settings and didn't bother to pay me any royalties. That's OK, I've forgiven him.

    Oh this is a Pentium... maybe that's the reason, cache size should make no difference, memory benchmarks should not be effected by cache size, writes are made using non-cached instructions and reads must make sure they read a non-cached data.

    But my point was, always experiment, those things may change from BIOS vers. to another, so always bench for best settings.

    P45t boards want vtt and pll rather than vcore and mch to get stable which will fry the CPU before too long, also ram over 1600mhz regardless of rated voltage need 1.8v+ vdram. Search for "p45t extreme" on this forum and you'll see my attempts with q9550 and qx9650 chips

    I am pretty happy with my 3.6ghz at the low voltages on this board. I know if I want to go higher I'll need to mess with voltages so just collecting info on that now.

    It will be a little while till I can start messing with it again though. I'll post my results when I get back to it.

    I gave 4ghz a shot and almost got there. Temps did me in. I hit 85c core temp in IBT before googling the max temp of a Q9550. I figured as Core Temp said TjMax was 100c I was good up to that, doh! Turns out it is 71.4c.

    With:
    471x8.5 = 4003.5mhz
    3.33D mem at loose (auto) timings
    Vcore = 1.343
    Vtt = 1.36
    PLL = 1.65
    MCH = 1.34
    V Dram = 1.5v
    all other voltages on auto it would pass 4 rounds of IBT (standard) before throwing up a message saying the CPU was not working properly. Oh and the temps would be over 80c...

    The computer isn't too bad and just a little more volts would get it to be stable at 4ghz but the temps are too high. I am still using the 4ghz settings at the moment to type this but it did crash a game of Rift just before. Well 2 clients of Rift as I was dual boxing, that really stresses the CPU with this game....

    I think I might need to reseat the heat sync on the processor or maybe it just isn't up to it :(

    The 71.4c is max Tcase, which is not easy to measure. But yeah I'd keep IBT under 85c to be on the safe side.
    It's C1 stepping s maybe it's not up to 4GHz.
    I am having difficulties getting my CPU past 450x8.5, and realized I am not gettin much more GFlops past 3.8GHz, just much more heat, so figured 450x8.5 is a good place to be with reasonable voltage and temps.
