    You're getting close.
    Check out the various TIM (thermal Grease) application methods for your cpu heatsink using:
    HDT-S1283 tim application
    google search terms.

    Best Thermal Paste Application Methods is worth checking out.

    You might need to tweak the MCH Reference and/or CPU Reference settings where you:
    1. Set Cpu Termination = 1.20 (stock setting)
    2. Increase MCH or CPU Reference by 1 or more settings
    3. Reset Cpu Termination back to the desired setting (currently VTT = 1.36)


    Is tRD (Static tRead Value) currently set to AUTO for both memory channels?

    It's best if you include a screenshot that displays:
    • Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
    • cpu-z CPU and Mainboard screens (several instances can be run at the same time)
    • EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed)
    • CoreTemp screen [for your cpu's VID (Voltage ID)]

    It's C1 stepping s maybe it's not up to 4GHz.
    I am having difficulties getting my CPU past 450x8.5, and realized I am not gettin much more GFlops past 3.8GHz, just much more heat, so figured 450x8.5 is a good place to be with reasonable voltage and temps.
    True, the 3.6ghz has been great for me so I have gone back to that. It was getting just over 51GFLOPS at 4ghz but that would have gotten better as I increased the RAM timings. At 3.6ghz I was getting 49GFLOPS.

    I'll definitely get in there and reseat the heat sync.
    With a little more cooling I might be able to get this stable at 4ghz.

    tRD was at 10 or for the testing as it was on auto, all the memory timings were auto. I was trying to find the top of the CPU limit before going back to tighten the memory, I never got a chance as the CPU was getting too hot.

    51GFlops should be around 3.74GHz.
    So maybe 444x8.5(3.77GHz) SMM 3.2 for DDR-1422 with timings 8-8-8-22 or 8-8-8-24.
    A bit more vcore and VTT to maybe.

    I took off the heat sink, cleaned it and reapplied it following the instructions from profJim. It did help and took off a couple of c at the top end.

    I started at 450x8.5 and went up from there.
    I got to 460x8.5 = 3910mhz
    Vcore = 1.30625
    PLL = 1.59
    VTT = 1.28
    MCH = 1.32
    VDram = 1.56
    memory at 1530mhz and 8 8 8 22 timings with tRD at 9.

    Lowering the vcore or PLL or VTT didn't allow me to go higher and dropping them made 460fsb unstable. That speed and voltage got one of the cores up to 71c in CPUID Hardware Monitor and 74c in Core Temp.

    I am happy with this speed and temps so will probably leave it there. I was only getting 49-50GFLOPS with that setup though.

    I'll post up my full bios template and screenshots soon, just heading out now.

    Here are the details of my 3.91ghz overclock.

    GFLOPS in IBT are still in 49-50 range and PCMark Vantage came back with a lower score than the 3.6ghz OC. I might try retesting with less stuff running in the background.

    Just a thought, you're currently using:
    Extreme Memory Profile - (XMP) - [PROFILE1]

    With your manual memory settings, you might want to try:
    Extreme Memory Profile - (XMP) - [DISABLED]
    and see if this makes any difference with stability.

    I wouldn't worry about IBT or LinX GFlops scores as the scores are only a useful guide that tells you if you're in the ballpark range with your overclock.

    You should be getting more Gflops at 3.9 GHz, I'd say something like 54. This is how mine runs at 450 * 8.5 ( C-states and EIST are enabled)

    Can you post MaxxMEM² - PreView bencmark results?
    Actually the memory is doing good, I ouldn't think it can do 8-8-8-22 much above 1430.

    I recently migrated to Windows 7 and I realized that benchmarks are best done in diagnostic mode to have consistant results. I have also found that IBT 32-bit mode(WXP) results are 0.5-1GFlops better than 64-bit(W7), LinX results are the same.

    Is your system watercooled to get 4.25?

    I had just been running the tests in my normal Windows account with Steam running and bunch of other stuff. This time I tried shutting down all non-essential processes and got better scores.
    52.5GFLOPS but the cores went up to 75c as it a hot day in Australia today.
