    Default Best Possible Settings X58A-UD5 & i7 930 @ 2.8, then OC

Hello Guys/Gals, I'm looking for advice on getting the Best possible performance settings for this particular set up @2.8 then the highest OC that is possible while keeping the Memory @1600Mhz.This system is a DAW so every once of Power that can be put to use while keeping it stable is welcomed..........
I would like to tweak it for Stock, then take on de OC part.I must admit i have no issues thus far so maybe i'm lucky or my time hasnt reached as yet

I'll supply my current Bios setting thus far so Hopefully i'm not that far off.

On a side Note i have another system (EX58-UD5 & i7 920) and i've just recently started getting a High Pitch sound After the Post beep. It's kind of like an extended beep if that makes any sense.........

    Current Bios settings

Looks ok to me for stock, why don't you enable c3/c5 and eist? If you set cpu voltage to normal the cpu will throttle down at idle.its up to you

You could go for 4.2ghz and 1600mhz ram?

    @wazza300

Thanks for your reply, As far as c3/c5 and eist i was unsure if it should be enabled since i had the CPU voltage set at .096 and did not know if this would have affected those features...............
One reason i have it Under volted is because from time to time i go mobile with the system and since i'm in the caribbean my tempts are not ideal at times. One thing i was unsure of was the Voltage for QPI/VTT, can it go lower than what it's currently set at (1.295v) for Stock? I've seen leaving it on AUTO sets it at 1.175 so is this safe/stable?

4.2 Ghz, now that will make things fly but i'm thinking that may cause too much heat given my location at times.I've been reading from different places an came across something that to keep the Memory @1600, the OC should go summ like 3.2, 3.6, 3.8 Ghz or is this not really the case? I wont mind giving it a try but i'll surely like to see how high i can get with the lowest Voltage........

Does anyone have a suggestion concerning the High pitch extended beep on my other system.I guess i'll have to see what codes it say exactly at the time of the Noise an report back..........

I don't know what the beep could be,does it show an error code on the led clock on the mb? You could try lowering qpi/vtt voltage but it doesn't create as much heat as cpu voltage,as for the cpu speed and voltage throttling down at idle automatically you have to set cpu voltage on normal and enable eist, you can also take extra voltage off the cpu at load by using dvid -0.0xxxv, For 3.6ghz try 160x22 bclk,10x mem multi/1600mhz,cpu voltage on normal,qpi/vtt 1.3v,and set uncore freq to 21x

The Code keeps changing but it goes to FF before windows starts up, i cant restart at this monent cause i have some files transfering but when i get a chance i'll see if at that exact moment it gives a particular code........

take extra voltage off the cpu at load by using dvid -0.0xxxv
You kinda lost me with that Can u explain a bit or point me to some more info plz.......

FF code means everything is ok,dvid adds +0.0000v or takes off -0.0000v off the cpu load voltage,so if you set your cpu voltage to normal and it uses 1.2000v but your 100% stable at 1.0000v then you can set dvid to -0.1000v to give you 1.0000v at load, clocking this way with eist enabled allows the cpu to clock down automatically at idle and full speed under load, you can add voltage the same way in dvid too

It does nothing to lower temps at full load but knocks off 5-8c off core idle temps

Ok i tried your settings but could not get it to 3.6Ghz @1600 instead it was 1650.I had to bump up the Blck to 164 cause 160 resulted in 3.53Ghz.It tried a few different Memory Multi's but it always came just below 1600 or just above...........
I'm sure it's summ fault on my end

Yes 160x22 bclk gives you 3.52ghz then you manually set the mem multi to 10x to give you 1600mhz,are you stable now? Did you set cpu voltage to normal and what are temps like, does cpu throttle at idle?

Yes I understand,i jus thought i could have gotten 3.6Ghz @ 1600 but as the screen shot shows the memory is just above that. The CPU voltage is set to normal and temps between 65-72 @Load, the cpu does indeed throttle at idle as well as the Volts.......
I only ran Prime for 1 Hour and it did not give any errors..........
Is that little overclock on the Memory, Safe/Stable?I'll run memtest but would like to know if i'll be better off finding the right combination to get it at 1600Mhz and not take any chances?
