    Default EP43-DS3L with E5200

    Hello,

    I hope my board isn't too old for help but I recently got back into gaming with RIFT and this is what I have.

    Antec TruePower 650w
    nVidia GTX 460
    EP43-DS3L
    4x2GB Mushkin 991580 (991580 - 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 Blackline (Module))
    Intel E5200

    Now, my system is stable and I'm not looking for a crazy OC but you guys were so helpful on my other Gigabyte board I was hoping you'd be able to provide some optimal performance settings. I haven't changed anything though I thought I disabled the speedstep but my CPU clock jumps around. Need to look at that again.

    EDIT:

    My CPU fan is the stock fan. But like I said, I'm not looking for a major OC, just some recommended BIOS settings for optimal performance.

    The E5200 is 4+GHz capable with a cheap cooler like the CM 212+. I had an E5300 on the stock cooler (but with Arctic Silver 5) at 3.3GHz somewhere around 1.3v and it would hit about 62C under LinX. That is pretty much the limit of the coolers capabilities. I played for hours with the damn multi and FSB and Vcore and could never get any better. I did have it at 4.1GHz on the stock but it hit 80C pretty much instantly, I was amazed it still worked.

    Well I've seen a few here that could not pass 300MHz FSB but others could do over 350.
    Have you applied any BIOS settings in M.I.T for the memory yet?
    Please post your full BIOS settings using the template in this post.

    Chike,

    No, I have not changed any of my BIOS settings except when I brought this machine up, I loaded the Optimal Default settings so they are set to default right now.

    I can still provide my settings if needed. I only didn't because I am using the default settings, though it probably would have helped to mention that in my original post. ;)

    If you have EasyTuen installed a screen capture of Tuner -> Advanced -> Voltage tab would be helpful.
    Also what is BIOS version, and what steps MCH Core available above 1.1?

    I'm running BIOS version F7. As for getting MCH core steps over 1.1 are available -- I have never tested it. Is that something you'll need before any recommended settings can be provided?

    In BIOS I meant. Try to adjust them in EasyTune, just don't click save or set.

    Download RealTemp/Core Temp, MemSet, and Prime95 from the programs sticky.
    Use RealTemp/Core Temp to monitore temperature.
    Run )rime95 small FFT for an hour or two first, if it fails more vcore is probably needed. Max vcore for this CPU is 1.365v according to Intel.
    Once you have this stable please post screen capture of MemSet main and SPD(click spd) windows and we will try to optimize memory before further testing.
    While core temperatures are under 70c under Prime95 load there is no problem.

    What is CPU cooling? Stock or aftermarket?

    Thanks for the information. I look forward to trying it out. My CPU cooling is currently stock since I never really intended to OC it to the point where I'd need more cooling.

    Based on your settings, is it safe to try with a stock CPU cooler?

    Also, in EasyTune, I can put MCH Core up to 1.4.

    I mean the MCH Core options are by 0.1v or by 0.02v incrementes above the 1.2v option?

    Begin with 266x10.5(2.8GHz) and go up x11.5 and x12.5 adding vcore as needed while monitoring the temperatures.
    While you are under 1.365 vcore there is no problem other then the tempratures.
    I was going by what Pulsen said about his 5300, idk if the 62c was CPU or core temp which are 2 different things.
    The 5300 is stepping R0 and the 5200 may be R0 or M0, which may behave differently.
    Don't run LinX or IBT(Intel Burn Test) if your core temperatures under Prime95 are higher than 65c.
