    Default X58 UD3R BIOS settings!!

As requested by @wazza300 (apologises to all for my big whinge on another thread).
This particular Mobo has given me nothing but grief since I won it.
Problems include BSOD, Loss of Lan, boot hangs, HDD i\o failures etc.
Please also note I dont use Raid, Sata 3 ports or USB3 and that all drivers are as up to date as possible.
Anyway found the BIOS Template and laboriously recorded all details as you requested.

    Ch-C Address VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]

Please note that on my system the DRAM (actual voltage) is around 1.63volts so wonder if that is a problem? The only thing I changed in RAM settings was the "standard settings" (9-9-9-27).
All other voltages appear very close to correct value.
I also left the CPU muliplier on 23X but "Turbo" seems to reset it to 24X (3.20Ghz) but dont see that as an issue.
Am also not sure what the latest Rev 2.0 BIOS is but will get it from Gigabyte
Other info about my system is in my signature below. If you need more info just ask.
    Think thats all.

Ok first you need to write all your bios settings down, then in bios load optimised defaults, your cpu and pcie clock drive should be 800 and 900mv so you have to load optimised defaults.

What's the rams rated voltage printed on the module? Set dram voltage to that,it will be either 1.5 or 1.66v,then set the spd system memory multiplier to 12x to give you 1600mhz ram speed, then set the uncore freq to 25x,set qpi/vtt to 1.3 or 1.3150v

Idk about the bios updates and why your version isn't there,BTW have you thought about upgrading to a 6gb ram kit? Are you running xp or win 7? 32/64 bit?

@wazza300 I thought I pulled that post about BIOS as was looking at ex58 not x58a so my mistake! Damn I didnt roll page down to see the "delete post" button but pressed delete instead! Done now.
Did everything you said and rebooted. Now I will give it a day or so and just watch!! Problems I have had for a very long time (including RMA) but hope this helps.
Should I update the BIOS to the latest (non beta) from Gigabyte or leave it alone?
By the way is there an issue in using the 266.58 driver from Nvidia rather than the 197.75 driver from Gigabyte for my GTX465?
Forgot to add I have 4Gb RAM only as am running WinXP 32 bit SP3. Will look at the other options when I get employed again!!
    Regards and thanks.

Hmm. I just got a black screen and noticed my modem was no longer live (means no Lan). Didnt think to check if KB and mouse were still active (test if caps light goes on KB etc) but did try Ctrl Alt Delete. So hit reset button and got message about system failure due to frequency and\or voltage changes. So then reentered BIOS, replaced all settings as discussed and here I am again!
So what would do that? I have had this error message before!!
And the RAM is 1.65Volt so have set 1.66Volt and timings 9-9-9-27.

I would update to latest final bios, before flashing untick the box that says keep dmi pool data, then flash and POP into bios, load optimized defaults and re enter your bios settings

And no there shouldn't be any problem using nvidia drivers, both gigabyte/nvidia should work fine

    Hi All,
I finally found most of my problem was a faulty brand new 1Tb WD HDD! Returned it this morning and the shop tested (circuit board faulty) and they replaced it immediately. I then completely reloaded WinXp etc on the new HDD and everything ran perfectly!! I cannot believe that the HDD could have caused all the weird different system problems I had. The HDD was in my system the whole time but was used very little. I am guessing the circuit board was feeding wrong info back into my system somehow which, in turn, screwed everything else. I also think the HDD degraded over time which probably didnt help either.

And the Advanced clock control 700mV\700mV is set when I clear CMOS just so you know where those figures came from...
So thankyou very much for your help and especially the correct BIOS settings and apologies for such a stupidly simple solution in the end.

Glad to see you found problem.

I know thats how those get set to 700/700 unless you set them manually. Its suggested to load optimized defaults as after clearing cmos as this changes other things behind the scenes that you can not see. Then reapply you settings.

    Again thanks all,
The system hasnt missed a single beat since I last posted!!
Just out of interest why would a rarely used failed HDD create so many different problems? The seller did say the circuit board failed rather than the platters and read\write head. Just had a quick look around on the net about HDD failure symptoms and havent seen anything at all like what I suffered!
    Any thoughts?
