It's hard to tell from my compressed picture, but if you look closely, you'll see that the cpu socket and the four quadrants of the pinmap line up exactly. It took me a while to verify this, because rotating the socket picture 180 degrees almost looks like the pinmap quadrants would still line up.

The last part of my post referred to fact that Intel kind of got it right with naming the quadrants where both upper quadrants are at the uppermost part of the motherboard.

Previous to this exercise in futility, I always thought of the "top" of the cpu as the area where the two locating notches are.

I'm willing to bet your life that my picture is correct.

**EDIT** I've got to stop PWT (posting while tired).
I've managed to thoroughly confuse myself. I didn't realize that the P67 cpu socket's hinged end is rotated 90 degrees from my EP45 socket. I agree that everything would be much simpler if Intel's datasheet included a picture of the cpu socket's orientation that lined up with the pinmaps.

Ya, I spent a while rotating the images as well and it's tough to tell without them saying what actually designates the top and bottom of the board for them.

Ya P67 notches on the CPU are at the top of the socket and the latch is up/down from the top/bottom of the board

So, the motherboard is definitely dead. Clr cmos, backup bios not working and a few minutes ago, I sent board to RMA.

    Hello guys!

So, motherboard is definitely dead. I try to get money back, because I have replaced mobo already ... Asus P8P67 EVO and this mobo is excellent. No problem with overclocking.

Sorry to hear you had to switch teams!

But glad to hear you are up and running, good luck with the refund.
