    Cool Bored? Why not overclock...

Got bored and decided to push my system and see what it could do. Keep in mind these were very quick runs so some screens I didnt not save or did not have cpu-z open. So here you go enjoy. I know I did.

    3dmark Vantage run at 4725MHz
    P20600 3DMarks
    3dmark Vantage 4725MHz

    4830.2 MHz

Finally topped out at 4876.2 MHz

that must be a well balanced custom water cooling kit you have there... I can't get anywhere near that with my boxed H70

    Vin

EDIT: I wanted to ask, what Bios version are you using?

yes full custom water cooling on cpu. vga is on stock cooling.

That was with latest beta bios Fe5. Seems stable just having resume from S3 issues. trying to figure that out.

You sound like me, I'm always just tossing in a high voltage!

This was on water, for Forum Wars

I also got 35K Vantage too but can't find the link right now but do have pics

I just did this the other day, grabbing 5th place global for x4 cores and 11th place global in the top 20! (Phase cooling though)
    Lsdmeasap's 25862 marks PCMark Vantage run with Core i5 2500K @ 5287MHz

Awsome work... I wish i could afford a 980x and phase cooling or any other extreme cooling..

Just tried doing another run to see if I could break 232 bclk in windows with setfsb. so I booted at 232 bclk and ran a test and beat my old score.

but system locked up after upping to 233 I probably didnt add enough voltage??? IDK Gonna try again

Do you know the correct clock gen for my board? using IC9LPRS918BKL seems to report correct numbers and set correctly.

Also look at vcore from what set in bios to windows idle. Below 1.6v LLC1 ok.

Thanks, this CPU isn't so great though unless it's colder, so that was all I could push out of it on water.

I can't remember clockgen for EX58, but I do remember there was one that was two above or below the main one that also worked.

What PCI Freq are you using now? That is still very good Bclk for not being cold, especially with the higher CPU multi.

I'm about to try and beat my 11th place PCMark Vantage result linked above right now, shooting for 10th place global!

    Good luck.

Test were done with PCI-e 113 MHz.

here are a few more SuperPI runs.

I think thats all this CPU has got unless you see any any room for improvements. I could drop cpu multi and try to push harder or try tighter ram timings but im already close to 1.7qpi/vtt voltage

    Thanks, but NO Luck!

I knew better than to try Hyper again on P67, at least my set. I did get them running at 2150-2178 at 776-24 and 887-24, before I couldn't even get them to run at 888-24 @ 2133. But, no luck tonight, spent 3 hours only getting part way through the benchmark a hundred times. Looks like I will have to try to improve my result with PSC modules instead. Only need about 200 more points to grab 10th place though, so I think I can do it somehow.

    Nice results! 4.9 Giggerheertz!!

What memory is it you are using, you may be able to better the timings. What model, if it's the tridents in your signature then yes you can do better timings. Try 1.76V and 887-24 or 776-24, they are Hyper IC and should be able to do 2000+ with either of those timings. tRFC can come down no matter what, you should be able to use 70-76 tRFC at least

Lower CPU multi wont help as that would bring benchmark scores down, if that is what you are after anyway.

That board is modified right? If so, and you can't take Bclk higher that's probably the limit on your CPU for Bclk at those temps, and that CPU freq anyway, might get higher Bclk with less CPU speed and lower Vcore.

But... since you are running benchmarks I assume you're probably after higher results in the end, not higher Bclk
