    Question 880GMA-UD2H rev2.0, Dual Channel, and GSkill DDR3 1600

Can anyone tell me if I'm running into a memory incompatibility? I can't get my motherboard to see my 2x4GB DDR3 1600 Ripjaws in dual channel. Single channel is fine and I've run memtest on the memory in that mode with no errors. But try them for dual channel and I get 3 long unhappy beeps and it doesn't post at all.

I've cleared cmos and loaded optimized defautls, but no go. Any ideas?

Check the manual to be sure you are using the correct slots for dual channel.

Are you using the latest BIOS?

Have you tried installing the memory in the 2 white slots?

What is your BIOS version? F3 lists memory OC ability, so best use that or above.
What are they set to by default 1600, 1333, or 1066?
Does it not work in default too?

I'm running the latest bios F5.

Default speed is 1333 and I've also tried running at 1066 to no avail.

For dual-channel, I've tried both combination's of 1&2 and 3&4. Neither even post.

Currently I'm using slots 1&3, memory is fine, but is single-channel, not dual.

    What CPU do you have?

Manual says modules must be installed in slots 3 & 4 for DDR-1800 so use those.
Set 1.25v on the CPU/NB and see if this helps, if not try to increase gradually up to 1.35v, or lower if you have success with 1.25v.
Try RAM voltage up to 1.575v.
If you manage to run them dual-channel you can try manually set memory multiplier to 8 and see if this works too.

To be clear, these are the voltage options in my bios. Which of these should I change? (with defaults where shown)

    CPU PLL Voltage Control (2.50V)
    DRAM Voltage Control (1.600V)
    DDR VTT Voltage Control (0.800V)
    NB Voltage Control (1.260V)
    NB/PCIe/PLL Voltage Control (1.800V)
    CPU NB VID Voltage Control

We have seen this before many times and it was a bent, or broken pin, or a bad cpu. Check the cpu for any bent or broken pins. This does require removing it and inspecting it under high scrutiny. It's easy to overlook a pin that is broken at the base. The cpu has the dual channel memory controller in it. It could be bad. But sometimes we have seen it's a bent pin.
