So I change the ##Channel A Advanced Timing Control## settings to:

    Failed red again

    So I tried

    Failed red again

I turned off the comp. pushed CLR CMOS, powered off the power supply for 10sec, turned it back on and powered up...pushed Del to get into BIOS and it stayed at this screen blinking the cursor.

Pushed reset and the comp. did one of those double power off and on (fail BIOS reset thing?) and this time it went in. Tried the old Optimized and 9-9-9-24=Fail, 9-9-9-28=Fail. So I powered it off, pulled the two last blue slot DIMMs (8GB mode) (CLR CMOS+Opt Defaults) and:

Entered BIOS set the XMP to [Profile 1] and:

So I guess back to square one. In the BIOS, is the white text to the left of variables the current settings exactly. ie. If I go into the BIOS now and copy all the BIOS settings manually will I essentially force the Profile 1 XMP settings? Check out the timings in the last two pics. It's stable at higher settings.

    Bbl tonight.

Yes you still need to raise qpi/vtt voltage

@LSD He has a i7-970. Should that be the 1.5x memory multi like the 980x and 990?

I still Think he may have a bent pin or just incompatibility with 2 sets of ram.

No, that is just "optional", it's still best for performance (For sure) and stability to use closer to 2x.

I use 2x or above still on 980X, otherwise performance is in the dumpster, these CPU's just allow a slower uncore is all it's not required or suggested.

Yes, could be bent pins, socket images would be great! However, he does have a lot of auto settings which could be the problem too, so I'm hoping he has better luck with what I suggested, if not we'll need to look at the socket for sure.

Gonna put back the rest of the DIMMs and try the suggestions now...

EDIT: I'll try 1.20 QPI er (start at) 1.25 as suggested.
