    Original Post:

The first issue I had was cold startup BSD's when Win7 was loading the Login screen or right after I login ("MEMORY_M..."something). If I manage to get into the OS and all the stuff finishes loading I'm good to go, even through a sleep...wakeup. This one I'm not to worried about and may have been solved with forced ram settings in the BIOS. (Profile1 "Quick"setting 9-9-9-24 voltage forced to 1.65)

The issue I'm having now is the install CRC error "does not match" problem, which most threads point to overclocking. I tried setting everything to "Normal"/"Standard" settings, whatever I can set in the BIOS, but I think the best thing is to give one of the Gigabyte support team my specs so they can recommend BIOS settings to try.

    Windows 7 64bit
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev 2.0 (BIOS Fg1)
    Intel i7 970
    Two sets of Corsair TR3X6G1600C9 G (12GB | 6 DIMMs)
    Two Corsair CSSD-P364GB2-BRKT SSD's (on GSATA3_6 and 7 as RAID 0)
One WD SATA3 HDD 250GB (Backup HDD)
    ASUS SATA DVDROM (on SATA2_0)

    Other info:
-all three BIOS IDE settings changed to AHCI (ICH,eSATA,GSATA...hmm there might have been one more...can't remember exactly)
-Fresh install of Win7 64-bit, All drivers off Gigabyte installed, all drivers from peripherals installed.
-Installing MafiaII no probs, Installing ArmaII (CRC Error), Installing Dirt (CRC Error)
-Tried turning off Intel Turbo Tech and like I said before Normal/Standard settings, no dice.
-Updated to Beta BIOS, no dice.

    Summary (Updated 4/22/2011)

    Situations

-12GB (Defaults) = BSD on cold start as Windows logs in user or sometimes at the user login screen. CRC errors when installing Software.
-12GB (Memory Timing Manually set at 9-9-9-24) = No BSD on cold start. CRC errors when installing Software.
-6GB (Only the three white slots filled/ CLR CMOS any setting) = No BSD on cold start. No Problems, Installed ArmAII and ArmAII - OA. WMDT (Windows Memory Diag Tool) No Mem Problems
-8GB (3CH Four Modules/ CLR CMOS all Default) = No BSD on cold start. No Problems, Installed Dirt. WMDT No Mem Problems

-4/7/2011 [Possibly solved errors] 12GB installed using Memtest on Min Setting Changes noted above. From the two batches (Batch A and Batch B) it looks like one DIMM is either sensitive to slot location or the slot hardware itself is not properly contacting pins. Read Post #21 for more details. Reseated with Batch B in white slots and Batch A in blue slots rendered no error in MemTest86+ or in Microsoft Memory Diag. Tool. Further testing on CRC errors during application installation needed.

-4/18/2011 12GB working only after a CLR CMOS or BIOS update, then will throw errors after a Shutdown of the comp. YouTube - 12GB Working Then Not
Current Sitrep: Nothing has changed except we now know 1) The memory at 12GB CAN work at any BIOS setting so long as it's not far off and the CMOS was cleared OR a new BIOS was just flashed 2) The problem happens after the computer is shutdown for the first time. Then the memory will show errors on MemTest and show a "Hardware Problem" on Windows Memory Diag Tool.

-4/19/2011 - Big Image of ET6 and CPUZ Readings w No Error 12GB - Passed MemTest after running two module 2CH (4GB) then putting the rest of the DIMMs in (12GB)

-4/21/2011 - I still can't tell if this is a mobo issue or memory issue. I'm again on the Fg1 BIOS "Lazy Settings". Pulled Batch B out (6GB) and got MemTest errors. Swapped Batch A with Batch B (6GB) and got no MemTest errors. Put Batch A back in (12GB) and got no MemTest errors. Shutdown the computer and powered back up and got MemTest errrors. Pulled Batch A out (6GB) and got no MemTest errors. Put Batch A back (12GB) and got no MemTest errors.

I have the same Mobo. Is the ddr3 3 channel ram in the right slots? they should be in the white ones i.e 3_1, 3_3, 3_5.
Also have you tried to CLR CMOS (blue led button near your ps2 keyboard ports)?
    What about optimized BIOS settings?
    Dual boot Win 7 pro 64bit & Ubuntu 64bit, i7 960, Gigabyte UD3R rev. 2, Gigabyte GeForce 560Ti SOC, 12gig Corsair Dominator (3x4gig ddr3 9.9.9.24), Thermaltake ToughPower 875watt PSU.

I have six DIMMS. Two sets of triple channel 6GB DIMMS, so I put one set in the blues and the other set in the white. Same model, but I want to make sure batch is with batch just in case.

I haven't tried clearing the CMOS, but I have always "Load Optimized Defaults" when I change too much and want to start over. Basically the most stable I got was :

    1. Load Optimized
1b. (BLAH I keep forgetting things) Set XMP to Profile1
    2. Set ram from Turbo to Standard
    3. Set ram from Auto to Quick
    4. set the ram to 9 9 9 24
    5. force the ram voltage to 1.66. (since the recommended 1.65 isn't there-I was mistaken in the first post, I set it to 1.66)
    7. Set all IDE to AHCI

I am quite sure that both, timings and DRAM Voltage are set correctly by only choosing xmp profile.
    What is the Profile QPI/VTT?

You will be better off manually setting qpi/vtt voltage, you might need between 1.35-1.4v with 12gb of ram,you would need to test it

    +1 ^^

XMP is designed for one kit, so you should disable that and set everything manually.

On Auto the QPI/VTT says 1.150v

    forced QPI/VTT 1.36v-1.40v = CRC error still

When I try to install ArmaII from the DVD it gets further along and you can actually see the progress bar drop back and the HDD led stop when its about to error out. When I copy the DVD to a folder on the desktop, and try to install from that folder, it consistently errors out in one spot/file.

For the memory, I only know 9-9-9-24, and 1.50v profile1 voltage, 1.65v Corsair Tested voltage. I force it to 1.66v since the next one down is 1.64v.

    What else should I try?

What for sure should I set to "Normal" on the voltage page? I now have everything "Auto" except QPI/VTT (1.40v) and DRAM (1.66v)

Vcore and qpi/vtt and vdimm or dram voltage are the MAIN voltages to set manually. Others help too but not to much till you get into high overclocks.

Just upping qpi/vtt voltage is not going to fix it. you have to start of low and work your way up. Too much voltage and be just as not enough voltage.

Do you know what voltage auto was setting for qpi/vtt? ET6 will show you.

Edit didnt see you are trying to run 12gb ram 3x2gb x2 sets.... Put one complete set in total 6gb ram and get that stable first then try adding in the other 6gb kit. It may not work you may have to get 1 12gb 3x4gb sticks.

I'll have to set the QPI/VTT to "Auto" again to read it from CPU-Z but from the BIOS it said 1.150v.

K so don't use XMP got it. Here's what I'm trying now:

    ((CLR CMOS))

    Adv Mem Settings
    -Sys Mem Mult (SPD) [12.0]
    -DRAM Timing Sel (SPD) [Quick]
    CH A Timing Settings
    -CAS [9]
    -tRCD [9]
    -tRP [9]
    -tRAS [24]

    Adv. Volt. Settings
    -QPI/VTT [1.360v]
    -DRAM Volt [1.660v]

    Adv BIOS Features
    -Full Screen LOGO [Disabled]
    -Init Disp. First [PCIE x16-1]

    Int Peripherals
    -ICH SATA Control Mode [AHCI]
    -eSATA Ctrl Mode [AHCI]
    -GSATA 6_7 Ctrl Mode [AHCI]
    -GSATA 8_9 Ctrl Mode [AHCI]

I'll try lowering the DRAM to 1.64 and just slowly mess around with QPI/VTT

Hmm you might be right. I think I've heard about that before. ugh that would suck, but god I hope that's not it. ;) I'll try...

    EDIT: No dice.
I'll keep it just the 6GB (Set of three Dimms) in the white slots until I don't have CRC errors then I'll add the other three when everythings ok.
    So far w 6GB:
    QPIv|DRAMv
    1.36|1.66 = CRC
    1.34|1.50 = CRC
    Auto|Auto = CRC

    I'll keep trying...
