You may need to open Disk Management and assign your hard drive a letter for it to show up in your my computer. If it's new it probably needs initialized, then formatted and assigned a letter, which you can do all of that from Disk Management.

    Acebmxer,

I just downloaded LinX, thank you.

And I am going to load all of the settings that you posted and then Save it to one of my BIOS slots as OC1 default Memory or something to that affect.

Then I am going to go back in and set my Memory Settings.

and save it as something similar with manuf mem specs.
The Memory settings I received from G.Skill are as follows:

    Main Board: Intel
    System Desktop
    System Type: DDR3
    M/B Chipset: Intel X58
    CAS Latency: 7-8-7-24-2N
    Capacity
    6GB (2GB X3)
    Speed: DDR3-1600 (PC3 12800)
    Test Voltage: 1.5 Volts
    PCB
    Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered
    Error Checking: Non-ECC
    Type: 240-pin DIMM

    Wazza,

your suggestion of manual settings set at 8-8-8-24, are you suggesting that I input that rather than my manufacturer settings shown above?

    Lsdmeasap,

Thanks again, I did see the drive in the device manager but I have not anything else besides notice it was there.

I will do what you said and let you know how I make out.

Thanks again everyone for the help and I will report back when I make these changes.

You should set ram to its specs. If it is to difficault to get it stable at those specs you can try timings like wazza said and see if you can get that stable then work towards spec.

I have two option for intializing the new drive MBR (Master Boot Record) & GPT (GUID Partition Table) any idea on which one I should choose?

From what I have just read it seems that since it is only a 1TB drive that I should be choosing MBR, haven't read a whole lot but from what I gather that is the way to go.

yes MBR is the way to go unless you are using over 2tb or 3tb then you will need GPT.

One other odd thing is that it will not let me format the drive for some reason.
It is also showing up as having 71.4 MB free of the 99.9 MB in the drive and it is a 1TB drive.
MY 80 GB SSD on the other hand is showing 54 GB free of 74.4 GB available, now this does seem right to me.
Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

As far as I know there is nothing on this drive.
If I choose format from the device manager it says I can not format the drive but if I choose to format from my computer it seems I am able to.
Under capacity, there is a drop down box but the only option is 100 MB? Any ideas why this the case?
Any suggestions on choosing file system? (NTFS i think) and Allocation unit size?
Thanks again for the help, this forum is the sh*t
