In Windows if you right click on your Samsung and choose format it should format it,ntfs is what you want, the other things its asking about seem to be about partition size? Which you don't want

OK, so here is my situation.
After I had all of my basic BIOS setting set-up and my memory specs added as well everything seemed to be running well, besides the small HDD size issue. SO I was in BIOS again and I noticed that all of my SATA ports were showing up as IDE. It must have happened during one of the initial reboots with optimal setting or somewhere else that I missed. So, even though I was aware of the issues of installing windows prior to having this set up correctly and tried to avoid them it did not work out. So I starting reading about how to fix this situation which involved modifying the registry in particular,
    Changing the value in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Msahci

from a 3 to a zero then rebooting, going into bios and changeing from IDE to AHCI. So, I attempted to do this but was not successful. After reading some more on the subject, it seems I need the drivers for those chipset set up prior to the reboot with the sata ports in AHCI. So, I thought that I had the correct drivers but now I am not so sure. I have also read that you need to have the intel Storage Matrix drivers installed prior to the reboot. So after finding what I thought were the correct drivers I now realize that they were labeled as a prevously released version. I also noticed that there are some Intel drivers called the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers. Are these Intel drivers the new name for the Intel Storage Matrix drivers? I also took a back up of the registry.

So I am open to a few things here.

When I looked in the Device Manager I could not be sure which one was the correct controller that needed the drivers updated as I was going to update them this way and then reboot into BIOS and change to AHCI.

I am willing to reinstall Windows 7 if anyone feel that is a simply or affective way to deal with these problems.

Any other tweaks anyone knows of would be great too.

Sorry for the lengthy response and I hope I am able to get all this figured out.
    Thanks again.

yes these are the correct drivers to use. Intel Rapid Storage Drivers.

in fact Stasio just posted a update today

    Updated with:

    Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.5.0.1022

    -Drivers Ahci/Raid

Last edited by stasio; 4 Hours Ago at 06:56 AM.

Boot with ide mode. install these drivers reboot switch to ahci in bios and windows should boot. You may have to go back into bios and set hdd boot order.

Boot into ide mode and make the reg changes above, then when you reboot in ahci mode Windows will find and install the ahci drivers for you,you can then update them with matrix storage drivers if you want

GReat thanks again guys, I gonna try and leave work soon and work from home so I can try this out. One other thing that I noticed was that in the registry edit they say to change the binary value from a 3 to a 0 and I noticed last night while trying this that the first time I tried i did change it from a 3 to a 0 and entered BIOS changed to AHCI and restarted but it wouldnt' boot (possible because of the drivers issue) but then when I reverted back to the last good BIOS (with SATA as IDE) and entered windows, the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Msahci was still at zero.
maybe it was something else i did incorrectly but I will let you guys know how I make out.
Again I can not say enough about this forum and its members.

Now, I logged into windows still in IDE mode and went to change the registry from 3 to 0 but it seems it is already at 0.
So I attempt to install the IRST driver and I get a message that my system does not meet the minimal requirements to install.
I know what the means I just dont know how it can be true.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Try changing back the 0 to 3 reboot and let it install drivers if it needs them, and re do the tweak from 3 to 0,then try installing drivers

It wont let me install the drivers it is giving me a message that reads "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"... any ideas? am I trying ti install teh wrong kind of file?
The name of the file I am trying to install is call iata_cd and it is an application file.
I downloaded this one because the other download was one that uses the F6 boot which I believe is the one that you want if you have not installed windows yet.
