    Question GA-EG45M-UD2H BIOS updating advice

    Hi,

I want to update the BIOS on this board to try and eliminate pesky LAN port issues that plague me in Win 7. I'm currently on F3 and want to go to F4.

I also have a RAID 1 setup using the Intel ICH10R.

I'm scared to death that I will screw up the RAID array by updating the BIOS, but saw in this post on updating with Q-Flash that you can avoid the problem by not booting into Windows. Is this advice still good for this board?

    Just wanted to double check.

    Thanks!

Yes, that will be fine, just be sure you go back into the BIOS after your flash and load optimized hustle and set RAID again before you load windows.

If you are concerned you might miss the BIOS entry, you can unplug your RAID disks while you do the flash update, then reconnect them once you are done and have got RAID set and saved. Just make sure you plug the cables back in the same slots and you'll be fien.

Please flash with Qflash or DOS if at all possible.

Also, latest LAN drivers here in case this might help too, see post #2

Hi, thanks for the good information. One last question: Is there such a thing as a feature that can save the BIOS settings and restore them after the defaults have been applied?

    Thanks!

Yes you can save BIOS settings, F11 in main screen, but they do not migrate well between BIOS versions so better have them written down and re-apply manually.

Good luck with the update, let us know how things go!

As mentioned above F11 on the MAIN screen of the BIOS is save profile and F12 is load, but it's best to not use them between BIOS versions.
