Thumbs up Re: Q9550 + EP45-UD3P, need help hitting 4 Ghz please

OK, don't go away mad, just go away.

3.8GHz is a very good overclock. The increase to 4.0GHz is nice for bragging rights, but the difference in system performance would barely be noticeable. At lower speeds, a 200MHz increase is noticeable.

Now we'll have to wait and see how long it takes for your need for speed to force you into setting up a crossfire 6950/70 monster.

    Glad to help out.
    Enjoy your system.

Posting your final bios template will help others.

You don't have to be fixed on 4GHz.
I cannot get 4GHz stable, but 3.95 seems more promissing. I may need to settle for a bit less but it will be over 3.9GHz I am sure.

Ahh been out of the gigabyte forum for awhile .

I used to run my Q8400 at 4.ghz ,I have it detuned now as i changed out its psu for my new pc and running with fewer fans.
gskill p1 should be good for 990-1000 pl 9 with tweaking.

Memory on a 1:1 basis ie a 2:00 multiplier allways worked the best for me,which means either underclocking your 1066,using 1000 or overclocking your 800mhz sticks.

Yeah the system seems fast enough for all my needs, i'm not mad at all, I think that the difference will be negligible and there is no point to push the system further.

Regarding a CFX setup... I don't see it happening with my current case, one 6950 barely fits in, let alone 2... unless I mod the case and remove the lower panel inside the case, it can't be done...

I will post my final BIOS settings later

    :)
