Default Media Centre PC turns off automatically

    Thermaltake SD100 case
    Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3

    Intel core i3 540
    Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz

Recently my Media Centre PC occasionally started turning off automatically. After this computer refuses to turn on for about 10 minutes. This sounds like an overheating issue to me, but I haven't noticed any extreme temperatures. I was watching temperatures in Gigabyte EasyTune just couple of minutes before it went off last time and CPU temp was around 35 and chipset temp was around 55.
Tried to touch processor heat sink - it was barely warm. Chipset sink (I think it's chipset - a blue sink with white "Gygabyte" label) felt pretty hot, I would say more than 55 but it's difficult to say for sure. Both fans (processor and case) seem to working fine.

Any suggestions how to troubleshoot this further? Are there any utilities which would record temperatures just before computer goes off? Is it possible to adjust threshold temperature when computer switches off?

No, nothing meaningful in the events logs. Only warning that previous shutdown was unexpected.

    QPI Frequency: 5868MHz (44 x)
    Memory Frequency: 1333 (10 x)
    CPU clock: 3.06GHz (23 x)

    QPI/Vtt voltage: 1.1v
    CPU Vcore: 1.26878v
    Graphics core: 1.162v
    PHC Core: 1.050v
    DRAM Voltage: 1.500v

Tried 36x qpi. Still goes off, maybe lasts a bit longer. Should I go lower than 36?
At what chipset temp board should shut down the PC? I believe mine is somewhere between 50 and 60c when it goes off.
Why chipset would get so hot anyway? I even tried to take the cover off - no difference at all...

I don't know, hottest mine goes is 45c,what is it that was set to 44x? The qpi link speed or qpi uncore frequency? Does it have a lot of numbers from 1 to 50+ or three set numbers?

qpi link speed. There are 10 set numbers, from 12x to 44x. Tried to go down to 28x - still gets over 50c and shuts down...

It should be fine on 36x,try with just one stick of ram installed and see if it still shuts down,I don't think its heat though, they are designed to run hot anyway, set your qpi/vtt voltage to xxx that's with all ram installed,it could be not enough qpi voltage that's causing the shut downs

    Ment to say 1.15v qpi/vtt
