    Default P35C-DS3R / Kingston Hyperx DDR3 PC10600 Issue

    Hi,

I just bought this kit to upgrade my computer (http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/K...9D3B1K2_4G.pdf) but this causes the system to crash instantly - the bios takes two attempts then resets the timings back to automatic and reboots. This keep doing that endless.

The bios is F12, here is the rest of the computer :

    Hard Drive : Samsung Spinpoint T166 SATA - 320 Go - 16 Mo
    Carte Mere : Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R rev 1.1
    Powersupply : Antec Earthwatts 430
    Ventirad : Scythe Mugen
    Proc : Intel Core™ 2 Duo E6750
    OS : Windows 7 64bits
Graphic Card : Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti OC

I tried to make several changes in the bis as displayed in this thread (Crucial DDR3 on GA-P35C-DS3R), but the computer doesn't make it through windows and keeps rebooting.

I tried to boot only with one of the two ram in each of the DDR3 slot but the error is still the same, so I assume this is not an hardware issue.

Does someone has any idea on how to solve this?

You are using just the DRR3, not mixed with DDR2?
Try clearing the CMOS before attempting to boot with only 1 DDR3 module.

Maybe F13d BIOS could help? I'd go ahead and flash to that with Qflash, using a single stick of memory, then be sure you load optimized defaults and reboot back to the BIOS after the flash

It could also be a power supply issue, your graphics card alone requires 500W or greater

This is not a power supply issue, I have tried with my previous graphic card and the issue is still the same. Or that would mean that the DDR3 requires way more power than the DDR2 but I doubt it.

I will try with the Qflash tonight.

What was the other graphics card? Older ones often require even more power, unless it's a smaller old one.

DDR3 wouldn't require more power, I was just more concerned with the card plus the rest of the system as a whole.

The older one was a PNY Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 Mo DDR3. The system works with both graphic cards and the DDR2 rams (2x1GB) but not with the DDR3 (2*2gb).

That being said I haven't noticed a huge increase in the FPS in the game I currently play (RIFT), I might have earned 6 or 7 fps (from 30 to 37 in med graphics). Can it be because my power block does not deliver enough to the graphic card ?
Not sure if it can be linked to a lack of power, a cpu limitation or a lack of memory, will thnik about it one I will have sorted the ram issue.

Can you borrow a different set of DDR3 ram to test with?
There might be a compatibility issue with your value ram and your mobo.
Most older DDR2/DDR3 boards were designed to use DDR3 memory that required much higher memory voltage than your 1.50 volt memory.

The EA-430 and EA-430D power supplies each claim to use two 12volt rails where each rail is rated at 17 amps. Both of these Antec power supplies only provide a single 6-pin connector for your video card, which requires two 6-pin connectors. You should be able to get by with your psu if you are only running older games that don't demand a lot of power. I've run many game demos with my 460 Hawk (1GB) card and some of these demo benchmarks draw as much as 325 to 350 watts.

I suspect that your problem is due to memory/mobo incompatibility, even if your DDR3 memory runs fine in a different system. Do you have a case speaker connected to your motherboard? If yes, are you getting any beep error codes?

Did you load optimized bios defaults before making any bios changes.
If you post your current bios settings using the P35 bios template, we might be able to help you.

Unfortunatly I can not borrow any other DDR3 to test :/

I have removed a memory stick (now running with 1x2 gb) flashed the bios using Q flash with the version provided above. I then loaded the optimized settings, saved and rebooted, been directly to the bios again to reboot again, still not good. I have reloaded, saved again restarted, and here are the settings :

    Code:

Will now look at how to plug in the case to get some 'bips', if this can help.
Thanks for your help guys !

Edit : I just changed the followings and it has loaded :

    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [3.20], so they run at 1066. FSB still at 333.

333x3=999. For 1333 you need one of the four multipliers.
Just wondering, does BIOS show DDR2 OverVoltage Control or DDR3 OverVoltage Controlm with DDR3 installed?

It says DDR2/DDR3, but when I go in to PC Health in displays a voltage of 1.63v, in line with the DDR 3 standards ( I was at 1.83v with my ddr2)

My bad : the SPD has been set at 3.2 and not 3, so this is at 1066 mhz. When I try 3.3 (1100 mhz) it doesnt boot. 338 fsb at 3.2 (1082 mhz) doesnt work neither.
I tried to raise the voltage to +0.1v or +0.2v it doesn't boot, so it seems I am stuck at this frequency :/

I think the last option would be to play with the timings but I don't now what to try here ?
