Red face Pressed sleep, now EP45-DS4P non post/ boot loops/ no BIOS access (-was PSU issue!)

Hi all, been searching here and google for about 6 hours so I'm posting a thread here (and maybe a couple of other places in hope and desperation).
Sorry about the waffle, but I'm at my wit's end!

My machine in sig has been working for a good few months and don't know why I tried to put the machine to sleep mode last night (but I did) and now it's in a constant failed boot loop (Started as S4S5 red LED now blue CPU LED and changed back.)

Amongst all the places I've been here and generally, these few pages are closest to mine...
    EP45-DS4P CPU Diagnostic LED

    Link for LED issues borked Lsdmeasap;

    Closest to mine:
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ery-3-sec.html

I have attempted most of the CMOS reset guidance and have battery out now with jumper fitted after:
    shorting jumper
    Button press
PSU I/O + Case power button (force dual BIOS hack)
Leaving battery out till tonight, when I try once more before the overnight effort...

Sadly I've had some issues with:
1 Getting TED RAM to run at 1066 with 4 populated slots (fixed through BIOS advice from here running Intel SSD boot at the time)
2 Getting the Revodrive erased, re-striped and restored from image though solid now. (OCZ forums and here...)

Please help me with your ideas,
    Dave

***Added info as this post hits on Googling EP45-DS4P***
Bumped fsb last night, NO POST or BOOT (Fixed by disconnecting all drives inc. Revo, reduce RAM to 1 stick, then reset fsb to stock- RAM issue with multiplier setting for 1066mhz (3.2) causing RAM speed to set too high preventing post?

When you left out the battery overnight, was the PSU unplugged from the board (Both cables) and the CMOS jumper shorted?

If not try that as it may help! You can try it quick and check in 20 minutes, but sometimes you need to do it a long time like you mentioned - overnight.

Thanks again Lsdmeasap, looking through me printouts (it was your help with the Bios settings for the RAM...)

Haven't had the overnight yet as I left it late last night after 10 minutes of symptom.

The reset CMOS stuff came up from this morning after hours of googling, lucky I have another couple of machines (might be time for a USB key based recovery/ info set per machine for these moments...

I am trying the reset you mentioned above (20 minutes or so), IF success THEN all good, ELSE overnight attempt.

What has surprised me, is how ORB>START>SLEEP has managed to result in a major crash, where the "dual BIOS" protection offered by Gigabyte has also failed admirably...

    The pain...

    With thanks and regards,
    Dave

You should try booting with a minimal hardware setup.
Check out http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post301218 for more information.
Removing your motherboard from the computer case might be needed while testing.

Please post a link to your memory's specifications. Is TED an abbreviation for Team Extreme Dark memory?
What brand/model is your power supply?

You might need to borrow hardware from your other systems to test with and/or test your hardware in another system.

Short duration (<2hrs) attempt has failed...

Removed cmos jumper and replaced battery
    Re-plugged 24 and 8 pin to MB
    Added AC 240V to PSU
    Switched PSU to I

    ACPI S4 5 still red
    Hit Case Power to on;
    ACPI S4 5 turns green
then 6 phase LEDs(?) light (2 green, 2 amber, 2 red) AND blue CPU LED lights for under a second, (then) stops (then) re-lights for a moment as everything stops.

Seems to me like the timings change and this is NOT a perfectly cyclical loop...

Sadly, I'll submit- will remove Revodrive (boot) and both storage drives, any ancilliary gear and if I can get to boot, I'll try unetbootin from USB (which hopefully) will allow me to preserve my installation of windows...

Will try to hold off on this if I can for now...

Yes, it would seem so, and (by looking at your sig pictures) I am starting to think that my inexpensive PSU may have just given up the ghost after less than 24 months...

Have you tried with only one memory module, and disconnecting all peripherals, but keyboard and graphics card?

Hi Chike, no I don't think so. Quite sure when I attempted (post clear CMOS) boot, that I still had the Revodrive plugged in and possibly the 2 storage drives. When I get home from work in about 6 hours I will try a boot as I've suggested 2 posts above, that will have allowed around 20 hours for the cmos reset...

Also, I am a little surprised that this issue could have been brought on by "sleeping" the machine, how could that effect the compatibility of RAM modules that have been working consistently in the setup for months(?) I am inexperienced though...

Again, I am leaning toward the PSU but looking for guidance and very much interested in the breadth of knowledge being presented so far.

Luckily, I have a less than 5 hours use PSU fitted in th "Wife and kids" enclosure...

Will keep this thread updated with all relevant info as it comes to hand...

    PITA!
Last night in my laconic state I failed to remove the battery!
Will this have negated the cmos jumper?

    Maybe, maybe not.
Give it a try to see if you can boot into the bios.
If you're not successful, repeat the clear cmos procedure with the battery removed and with the power supply unplugged.

Check out GFX and 64/32 bit OS where I advised a fellow Australian (is the term Aussie OK?) with a psu upgrade, starting in post #7. Post any psu questions you might have in this thread.
