    Default EP45-UD3P / Q9300 Help with getting 3.4Ghz+ Stable

System specs in sig. Here are some pictures:

RAM timings are 5-6-6-18, everything else AUTO.

PC is stable on the RAM front right now. 20+ passes of memtest+ Test#5, 10+ passes of entire test. It is also stable on LargeFFTs and Blend in Prime95. However, IntelBurnTest throws a Hardware Failure BSOD.

I started from stock, managed to test all the way stable to 3.3GHz, now I am trying for 3.4GHz

I am shooting (hopefully, I think this chip has it in it,) for 3.5GHz (467x7.5=3.502GHz *2.40B=1120 DDR2) Any ideas? Every other setting apart from those shown are AUTO.

To begin with, you do not want VTT(CPU Termination) and PLL on auto at that bus frequency, both are probably set way too high, check target values in EasyTune -> Advanced -> Voltage tab.
Second, tRD(Static tRead Value in BIOS, Performance Level in MemSet) is set to 13. Compare memory performance with SMM 2.00D/B, timings 5-5-5-15, and tRD 9 or 10 for both channels.
Also try lower tRD with SMM 2.40B, 9 or 10.
Where do core temperatures stand with Prime95/IBT?

Ok I will review the voltage and tRD and get back to you.
Temps at 3.3ghz stable were 58c MAX for cores 2&3, 0&1 were slightly lower max. Idle at 37/38 with ambient from 19-22c

Ok yeah, PLL is at 1.75 and Termination at 1.5v, what do you think I should drop them to?
I have tRD now set at 10 in BIOS.

EDIT: Just read on Anandtech they fried a QX9650 by high Termination, at 1.5v to be exact... :( makes me sick...

PLL normal or one step up, VTT drop to 1.32v or lower.
    Id tRD 10 still stable?

I will check tRD as soon as I drop voltages. I will be testing 3.4ghz with prime95, I will try IBT too and see if it BSODs again...

Ok had a BSOD with 1.2750v with Prime, bumped up to 1.2825 and is stable with both Prime and IBT. IBT gave 42.8xx GFlops. Turned VTT and PLL volts down to 1.3vtt and 1.5PLL /

max temp was with IBT@60c on one core (I mustve done a good job lapping the quad, either that or the zalman stg2 tim is that good)

I am going to run 20 tests of IBT then I am open to go further. Probably 3.450GHz, 460x7.5 for 3.45ghz and 1104mhz RAM. I'll start with memtest then progress to prime and ibt.

and as far as 2.00D, I was told since the q9300 is a 333mhz FSB cpu, to keep it on the 333(B) multis. Also do you think I could pull 5-5-5-15 off? This ram is rated 5-6-6-18@1150mhz

wonder where the wall is with this setup...

It's a wonder the memory holds that high, but it will probably won't hold much more.

well it is pc2-9200 (1150mhz) factory rated, so I hope it can go this high or else it is defective. Thanks for your help Chike, I will let you know how 460 fsb goes..

BSOD at 460. Raised voltage to 1.2875, will try again.
