Default X58A-UD3R USB rev. 1 how to get USB 3.0 speeds?

I'm a pro photographer and just successfully flashed my i7-920 6GB RAM computer to BIOS F6 08/24/2010 hoping to get USB 3.0 speeds.

Just checked and I'm getting 110 - 220MB/s download speed from fast SDHC card to SATA 6 drive. My write speed to the SDHC is a little less than 20MB/sec. It's a 30MB card.

I copied (bailed out of, actually) 800MB of image files to a Vantec USB 3.0 dock. I was getting less than 60MB/sec when copying to a new WD 2TB 3Gb/s drive (WD20EARS).

Are these the speeds I should expect to see? Do I need to flash to BIOS F7?

    Thank you,

Thank you, but BIOS F7 does not increase speed. I have the most recent USB 3.0 driver. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have the X58A-UD3R ver. 2.0 - FG2 bios and own the Vantec USB3.0 Docking station with Hitatchi 2 Tb Ultrastar ( piece of junk - I've had 2 fail on me and think this one is on it's way out ) .

I did a test for comparison and copied a 4gb folder from SATA drive to Hitatchi . Fastest I saw was 65 mb/s , with average of between 40 and 50 mb/s . The drive is rather full and will write slower to the end of the drive .
You would probably find it to be faster with a faster drive , same with the SD card - 30 mb/s is the limit that one is able to write to the card . Class 2 SD Cards are normally the slower ones , ranging up to class 10 ( hyperspeed SD ) . Similarly an SSD drive could possibly perform better in the Vantec docking station .

Here is a link to a review where they test the docking station with a SSD drive and regular HDD . The reviewer seemed to have mixed up his SATAll and SATAlll scores though . :)

The SD card is a class 10. My images drive is very full, so that could be an issue. I'll try some more things tomorrow. Thanks!

Also If I am not mistake you can not run crossfire or SLI if you want USB3 or Sata3 or is it if you want both. Something along those lines. I dont know if you are running 2 gpu's or not. Just a thought.

    Edit

Check here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ity-tools.html. Make sure you have the latest Firmware installed along with the latest driver. (Scroll down to post #2)

When updating the firmware make sure NOTHING at all is plugged into the USB3 headers.

Nope. Just one graphics card and no crossfire. Thanks, though!
