What does it say on corsair site? To mount fan so it sucks air into/through the rad from outside?

I took my tower down to the PC place I bought it all from and they couldn't figure out why the temps were reading so high. Placed 1 of the NZXT sensors into the NB and after a BIOS update the highest it got to during a stress test, and running various games, was 55C. The CPU sensor got up to 35C, obviously this isn't going to be 100% accurate but very close. Those temps seem pretty reasonable from what I've read on other forums. Running Realtemp and going off those figures the CPU cores were up to 100C and idling at ~60. The H60 is working 100% which says to me that its pretty much impossible the cores can be running that high. Just to make sure they also tested temps with a heat gun which read almost the exact same as what NZXT was already saying, neither of which are even close to what the mobo is saying via BIOS/Realtemp. Just in case he ordered a couple of spot fans for me (pick up on monday) so I can toss those in and put them right on the NB as well as putting a RAM fan on and tilting it towards the NB which helps a few degrees.
I guess I'm going to just have to hope that my mobo doesn't melt down on me 1 day and just keep an eye on what NZXT is telling me and hope its accurate. Again, thanks a bunch for all the help you guys have offered. At the very least I'm more informed and comfortable with messing around with the interior.

The nb runs hot anyway, mine runs at 45-50c so I wouldn't worry too much about that, place a fan near it if you want, only other way would be to rma the mb or CPU for stuck temp sensors or maybe other temp fault? If both are under warranty then personally i would, and I'd rma the mb first, but its up to you

Are you using the latest mb BIOS?

Yup, BIOS is the latest version. There seems to be a bit of a dead space for air flow right where the NB is, I think its actually designed around piggybacking off the CPU fan as opposed to water cooling. I probably should just return it but ugh...such a pain its been, then I'll have to wait however long for a new one. We'll see how the new fans treat it and see if things improve, if not I guess I'll suck it up and send it in for a replacement.

What were core temps with the stock cooler?
Try other software, like Core Temp and HWMonitor(CPUID). What is TJmax set to in RealTemp?
If there's no bug with RealTemp core temperatures are to be worried about. If that what is being reported by the DTSs the CPU will throttle and/or the system may shut down completely.
Do you have CPU Thermal Monitor, and Bi-Directional PROCHOT enabled?

The core temps with the stock were about 70C, realtemp and coretemp were both giving the exact same numbers. I don't know what TJMax is or does so I havn't changed that at all. I havn't changed any settings in the BIOS if thats what you're referring to with the CPU thermal monitor and bi-directional PROCHOT and I don't recall seeing those terms in BIOS anywhere.

Those temps are significantly higher than what NZXT is telling me, which is confirmed to be perfectly accurate. Currently I have a sensor almost right next to the CPU and it says 29C, and a sensor inside the Northbridge at 49C. Currently the Northbridge has a lack of airflow around it though, theres just a deadspace for my fans so I'm waiting on spot fans to remedy that on monday.

It's just strange that the cores are telling me they're running so bloody hot with a working H60 when my NZXT is telling me how cool its running and it is certainly NOT hot in my case whatsoever. If they were actually running that hot there should be some kind of heat coming off the CPU regardless of the H60 working, but theres absolutely none. So if there is just a faulty sensor on the board (or cpu? i dont know how it works) then is it still going to be shutting itself down even though its not actually running hot like it thinks it is?

I am thinking possibly the way you are mounting the H60 or a thermal paste problem. Dont know if there is a correct or wrong orientation of the h60 to the motherboard like there is for other air cooled heat sinks or other water blocks.

From what I have read there are alot of people who dont like the H50,60,70 because their temps were not as good as expected. But thats only because they thought they were Water cooling their cpu but H50,60,70 will never be as good as a custom water loop.

What bothers me is that your temps are showing 60-70c at ilde/low load. THAT is very high. Also Might want to use the regular version of real temp not the GT version. Real Temp GT is for the 6 core cpu's.

TJMax is the max temp the cpu cores can reach before cpu throttling kicks in to keep the cpu cores from over heating. This can not be changed in the cpu but can be changed in real temp. Changing this and the Idle calibration is just so you can have the cores showing the same temp at idle/load. see my pic.

In theory if core temps = 100c cpu temp should also max out at I think 61c is max cpu temp for these cpus it might be 71c but not sure with out looking it up.

As far as I can tell the H60 is installed properly, there doesn't appear to be any kind of ventilation on the unit and the instructions say nothing about the orientation. From what we could tell the motherboard seems to be designed around having a fan directly on top of the heat sink. With the stock fan installed the idle temps were certainly much lower, around 45C, possibly because it was pushing the air around in that particular area of the case as opposed to the no air flow there is right now.

Were core temps also lower with the stock fan? those should not be effected by the airflow a all.
Also did you said you connect the cooler to SYS FAN2, did you try connecting the cooler with a molex? The SYS_FAN may not give it all the power it needs.
