Default GA-P43-ES3G SATA vs IDE Disk Drive

Per my other thread, I bought this board recently.

It seems to be ignoring my IDE DVD Drive in favor of the SATA drive that I installed along with it.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. SATA and IDE controllers are on and the IDE Drive is set to Master. But the board refuses to recognize it despite the HDD light telling me that it can tell its there.

Help a brother out, did I miss a setting in BIOS?

Is your IDE drive already formatted? Is it a new, unformatted drive?
Does your IDE hard drive show up in the bios Standard CMOS Features screen?
Are you sure that your IDE drive is properly jumpered to MASTER?
What type of IDE cable (round or ribbon) are you using?
How many total connectors does this cable have? two? three?
Are the cable connectors properly hooked up? With three connectors, the MASTER connector is at the end of the cable and is closer to the SLAVE connector.
    Is it a 40-wire or 80-wire cable?
Have you tried a different IDE cable?
    IDE HDD light?
    IDE DVD light?

It's much easier for us to help you if we don't have to guess what brand/model hardware you have.

    1. Again, its a DVD Drive. NEC 3520A DVD-+R

    2. Again, Jumpered to Master.

    3. Its the IDE cable supplied with the Motherboard.(Ribbon) It has 2 connectors, only one is used.

    4. DVD Drive Light is on and visible. HDD Lights up whenever its on. Again, Neither Windows or the BIOS recognizes it.

This is about DVD Drives, both are DVD Drives. One is IDE the other is SATA.

All of my Gigabyte IDE ribbon cables have three connectors:
    1. motherboard
    2. slave
    3. master

MOBO1-----------------------SLAVE2------MASTER3 <-- this is a diagram for the IDE ribbon cable
Note that the Master IDE connector is at the end of the cable and the Slave connector is between the mobo & master connectors.
Is this how your IDE DVD is connected?
Have you double checked that the jumper block is correct for the Master IDE setting?
Does you IDE DVD work properly if you temporarily disconnect the SATA DVD?

    Load optimized defaults.
Make sure Onboard IDE Controller enabled in Integrated Peripherals.
Make sure all IDE Channels Slave/Master are auto.

IDE Controller is indeed enabled. I'll quadruple check to make sure.

Which is the board revision and what BIOS is installed?

EDIT: If no other HD or DVD is connected would it show it then?

I found the issue, Profjim was right on the money (I can't believe I missed that). The drive is being detected now. And to answer that question, the board revision is 1.4 and BIOS is F14.

Now if only I could determine the 5 second detection delay in AHCI mode after the first HDD is detected on a cold start. My bet is on the silly SATA DVD Drive.
