    Default GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 S3(STR) GONE in F5 BIOS

I just updated my bios to F5 and the option to chose the ACPI Suspend Type is gone. At least it isn't where it used to be, (right at the top of the power management set up screen). It was there in F3.

Does anyone know how to find it or why it is gone?

I would like to set it to S3(STR)

Try pressing "CTRL" key + "F1" key at bios main screen. The screen should flash once if it acknowledged the command. This will show any hidden option in the bios.

Have you flashed back to F3 to see it does come back. Try reflashing F5 to make sure the flash was successful?

Edit - Try the latest bios for your board.

Is using a Beta bios safe? I have dual bios so I guess I can take the risk haha. I was hoping that someone who had already updated to F6d could verify that the ACPI Suspend Type options are present or at least that there is S3(STR) somewhere? (Similar information about any other bios F4,F5 would also be very helpful before I update.)

I have tried using ctrl+F1 to see additional options; more showed but none where what I was looking for.

Yes updating to a Beta bios is safe. When a bios has done its beta stages and goes final most often gigabyte renames the last beta to be final.

Yes you do have dual bios. Since you said you updated from F3 to F5 strong chance your back up bios is still F3. If the main bios was to get corrupt for any reason and the backup bios was to reflash the main bios you would be back to F3. Also some people have notice instablity in the system if main bios and backup bios are far out of sync with each other(Main bios has F1, backup bios has F6) To flash the back up bios hold down the "CTRL" + "F12" key before and during the start up beep. You should see a message asking if you are sure you want to copy the main bios to the backup bios.

There may be bugs or glitches in a beta bios and even final bios versions. You can always flash back to a older version until gigabyte issues another fix.

You can wait and see if any other uses can say for sure but I would still recommend using the latest beta bios.

What do you care about BIOS options, does it go to S3 when you set it to sleep or not?

It does appear to go to sleep but it does not wake up correctly. As long as this was a problem I figured I might try and mess with the setting but it was gone.

I will probably update to F6d and also mess with my memory settings in inteligent tweeker.

I did not know that the back up bios could be updated. I may do that at somepoint but at the moment F3 is the only bios that I know to be correct.

It would wake up in F3 but I might have changed my memory settings...

I believed it worked in F3 but only if I ran the ram below its spec at 1600 insted of 2133.

Other than running the XMP memory profile no overclocking at the moment.

I forgot to mention to verify which bios is installed on which bios. At the main screen in the bios press the "F9" key.

Also for sleep to work the system has to be fully stable.

You need to manually set your own voltages and test stability and test sleep. I recommend using LinX to test. Use max memory and test 10-20 runs. Or if you want longer stability test you can use Prim95 and run that for 12 hrs+. Make sure you keep a eye on the cpu core temps with a program Real Temp.
