    Default GA-X58A-UD3R (rev.2) instable

    I have troubles to get my GA-X58A-UD3R stable.
    I'm using 24Gb of GeiL Value Plus (2x GVP312GB1333C9TC, 1.5v) memory and the board defaults it to 8-8-8-20 in BIOS.
    So it runs at 1066 instead of 1333, which i think it is OK with that amount of RAM.
    Did also put the Voltage up to 1.540, instead of the default 1.5V.
    Disabled: CPU enhanced Halt(C1E), CPU EIST function, C3/C6/C7 state support and Intel Turbo Boost technology.
    All other settings Auto.

    Memory have been checked with memtest86+ but seems OK.
    12Gb seems more stable, but can't tell for sure since i got Linux locked up also a few times.
    VideoCard is swapped from Ati to Nvidia, but doesn't seem the problem.
    Running Ubuntu 10.04LTS and Windows7(just for testing at this moment) with AHCI.

    Any advise? Am struggling with it since December 2010.
    Don't want to overclock, just to have a stable server.

    Hi,

    The qpi/vtt was also on auto. Its default says 1.175V, but i did set it to 1.315 right now.
    Is that OK, for the 24Gb of RAM?
    Is this qpi/vtt know to make issues as if set on auto with Gigabyte boards?

    What would be the optimal settings for 24Gb of Geil Value Plus RAM for my board?
    Think indeed my problems have something to do with voltages/settings.

    The memory has lower values btw. It is detected as 8-8-8-20 by the BIOS at 1066, possibly due to the ammount?
    It should run at 1333 at 9-9-9-24. But the specs of the RAM says also lower timings as retreived by AIDA64:
    @666Mhz 9-9-9-24
    @592Mhz 8-8-8-22
    @518Mhz 7-7-7-19
    @444Mhz 6-6-6-16
    @370Mhz 5-5-5-14

    But as i saw, the Bloomfield processor i7 950 specs; With 24Gb it runs modules 800/1066 Mhz.

    You need to see what qpi/vtt was when its on auto,it should tell you in easytune/advanced/profile1 look at qpi/vtt Target voltage and post here

    As for ram speed its because of the amount,24gb is a huge amount of ram and 1066mhz might be the best you can achieve,you could try for 1333mhz but you won't notice much if any performance increase,slower speed won't really matter due to you having such a large amount if ram

    You can use between 1.3v to 1.45v qpi/vtt

    qpi/vtt is default 1.17500V and the Target is the same 1.17500V.
    Everything is set to default, except for the DRAM Voltage which i did set from 1.5000V to 1.5400V as stated in Easytune6

    Yes dram voltage is fine,no higher though,start with 1.35v qpi/vtt,if unstable add one or two clicks more,keep going until its stable,you can use up to 1.5v qpi/vtt but I would test up to 1.45v if needed

    Till so far no success. At this moment the voltage set to 1.41 and still BSOD in windows 7.
    Memtests are fine as well as all tests in AIDA64.
    Virtualbox with Ubuntu desktop as guest also no problem.
    Then when closing windows, crash...blue screen.
    I,m wondering is this Mobo isn't the reason itself...maybe controller failures?

    How to diagnose these posibilities....

    Btw, anyone knows what this warning is comming from in the Ubuntu(10.04LTS and 11.04) dmesg:
    ACPI Warning: Incorrect checksum in table [TAMG] - 9D, should be 9C (20090903/tbutils-314)

    Update:
    Got these errors when testing again with Memtest86 and qpi/vtt voltage at 1.41v

    You probably need even more voltage,qpi/vtt voltage is for the integrated memory controller inside the CPU,the more ram and faster the speed,the more qpi/vtt you will need,I don't think its the mb,only way to know is to run it with 6gb and see if it crashes,I just think your voltage isn't enough for the amount of ram your using
