Default 1st post G1 Assassin power supply question

    Hi everyone!

im doing my first computer build and I have a question about the power supply to the G1 Assassin board.

In the upper left hand of the mother board there are two 8 pin CPU power connectors. My current power supply has only one. Can the board work with only one connected or does this mean I have to go out and buy a new PSU?

1 will work just fine, i use only 1 with my ud9.

You wouldnt need a new psu, its the same connections, it just provides power, so in theorey you could just use a y type power adapter or something.

Ideally this is not the best way to do it though.

If your not big time overclocking, then 1 will be just fine.

Thanks Pablo, thats great news. So, in the future when I decide to start overclocking my system I will need to upgrade my power supply. I have a Intel I7 970, theres no reason for that processor to require dual 8 pin power right?

    Thanks again!

Yes you will be fine with the psu you have as long as it meets the wattage that your setup will require.

Unless you are doing extreme overclocking all you need is 1 8 pin connecter.

    Agreed.

I have overclocked my i7 930 to 4.6g and that seems stable enough.

Im not even sure if there are many psus with dual eps12v connectors?
Im sure there are some though.

If i was gonna connect mine up, i can use my additional 4+4 pin connector i have on my enermax revolution 1250, but as i say, i havent bothered as i dont need it.

good luck with the build also.

Nice to see that you can fit an XL mobo also (i assume your aware of this point)?
