Idk if 4.3ghz will be possible if your running air cooling? But for 3.8ghz I would use or test with between 1.25-1.35v CPU voltage and start with atleast 1.32v qpi/vtt voltage, then once stable try and lower them as much as you can

Bsod error code to look for if it blue screens are 101 which means not enough CPU voltage and 124 error which means not enough qpi/vtt voltage

Also set dram voltage to what's printed on your ram, either 1.5v or 1.66v,keep an eye on core temps with coretemp and stay below 80c,test for stability with 10 runs on high of Linux or Intel burn test

What bsod error???? check what wazza said also see the link in my sig for bsod errors and their correction. If the system is rebooting before you can read the error message, try this.

    1. Right click "Computer"
    2. left side of the window that opens click advanced system settings
    3. click settings button at the bottom under the section "Startup and Recovery"
    4. remove the check in the box next to Automatic restart.

From what I have seen the i7-920's had about the best memory controllers. Your 960 may require alot more qpi/vtt voltage but also this new cpu should have a higher cpu multi. Chose a higher "Odd number" multi and use lower bclk.

Bclk, Memory multi, Uncore multi, Memory timings = Qpi/Vtt voltage.
    Cpu multi = Vcore
Memory Speed = Qpi/vtt and Vdimm.

OK, some success so far. I've gotten a stable 3.68 with Burn Test "Very High" (not "Maximum") for 10 runs. Clock ratio 23 QPI 44, Uncore 20, BCLK 160, Mem Multi 10. VCore 1.26875 QPI/VTT 1.195

Not so much luck on 3.84. Still working on it.

    Thanks for the help!

For 3.8ghz I need 1.3v qpi/vtt with 1800mhz ram speed so with 1600mhz I would try around 1.25v and keep CPU voltage where it is,don't be scared to use qpi/vtt,it doesn't heat up the CPU like CPU voltage does

For 4.2ghz 21x200 and 1600mhz ram speed I have two 920's at this speed and one needs 1.26v CPU,1.32v qpi/vtt voltage and the other needs 1.35v CPU voltage 1.35v qpi/vtt voltage so they do vary from chip to chip

As long as coretemps stay below 80c full load then higher voltages are fine

So far the 3.68 seems to be rock solid at temps of 73-74 at full blast. I may try to back off the VCore a little.

I tried the 4.2 with 21/200 with 16 Uncore and 8 Mem Mult with the voltages set about 4 notches higher than stock. Instant fail.

So when is in necessary to get into setting the other voltages like PCIE, QPI PLL, ICH I/O and ICH Core and how to they affect things? I never really understood this.

around 200+ish bclk you may need more ioh voltage for the northbridge and ich southbridge but not much stock should work fine. Anything over 220+ will need more pcie as you will also need to run pcie at 107+Mhz

But at those speeds you better have better cooling like really good watercooling or dry ice or ln2.

I leave all those settings on auto, try and lower CPU voltage as much as you can,Idk how much voltage a 6core would need so you will need to test,I'm at my absolute limit at 4.2ghz with air cooling
