One more important question came to my mind: these mobos will probably be compatible with new Ivy Bridge CPUs or not ? Have you heard anything about this Chike, profJim ?

They will be Ivy Bridge friendly. Apparently they will not support native PCIe 3.0

Check out http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...3-support.html for a brief discurssion why full PCI-e Gen3 bandwidth probably won't be supported.
Post #17 has links to a TweakTown article and a press release from MSI that shows why most current P67 motherboards can't offer full Gen3 PCI-E performance. I don't know if some current Z68 mobo's are affected.

Can we sue them for this ? Or they will provide us with free "Upgrades" ?? Thats is the $$$ question. I hope Gigabyte comes out with an official statement pretty soon, explaining this mess.

If you live in the US, you can sue anyone for anything. For anyone else around the world you most likely will have to get the official customer representive thingie involved. (On german: Verbraucherschutz, On Danish: Forbruger rådet/Ombudsmanden. No idea what its called in the rest of the world).
Legal-Technically speaking, you should be entitled to a full refund if you can proof that you bought the product after they announced that information and it is in fact a false statement. Reason for this, you didn't get the product you paid for.
My advice - never visit a short-url, no matter who gives it to you. You can't trust any source at any time when you don't know your target

Im in Canada and i bought my board on release day, after that i exchanged it for a B3 version so no, no PCI-Express 3.0 sticker on the cardboard box, but it is offcial on their website that my board is ready for that feature. They cant take it down now since i took screenshots of everything so i will be joining the suing wagon if there is a class action lawsuit. If i dont count as "eligible" i dont think ill buy another Giabyte board for my PCI-Express 3 update or ever, it just wont make sense if i did...

re: Gigabyte 680i extreme processor support, Check out:
I think that part of the 680i problem is based on unexpected changes made by Intel, possibly to sabotage the Nvidia based 680i motherboards. I don't recall seeing where Gigabyte (U.S.) finally did the right thing with their 680i owners.

In the U.S., I think that the only motherboard owners that might be eligible for some type of refund or upgrade would be those who made their purchase AFTER Gigabyte first posted their Gen3 compatibility claims. Is this fair? I'm not naive enough to believe that laws are always fair.

I'm seriously considering switching to ASUS or MSI for my next mobo purchase.
Them that has the gold are the ones who make the rules.

    Hi everybody,

I got my new stuff today: 2600k, 2x2g kingston 1600 xmp ddr3 and the gigabyte z68xp-ud3p. Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it, otherwise I think I would have bought a mobo without the HDMI output (and then no QuickSnync....) so thanks a lot!

Next step is buying a proper cooler to OC this on 4,3-4,5 Ghz. I am thinking about the Prolimatech Megahalems or the Mugen 2/3. Any thoughts or alternatives?

Thumbs up Re: GA-Z68XP-UD3 why not B3 ?

Is your cpu case wide enough for a tall, tower type cpu heatsink?
Both should be excellent, but the Mugen is a massive unit.
Check the aftermarket cpu heatsink dimensions carefully.
Some manufacturers' websites will have detailed mechanical diagrams with the heatsink's dimensions.
Compared to older motherboards, it looks like the p67/z68 cpu socket is much closer to the mobo's memory slots.

Have fun with your new system.
