Default Gigabyte X58A-UD5 Rev 2.0 bios

I am currently on the fc4 version of the bios, my problem is that i have 12 gb of ram installed but only 4 of it is usable, should i update my bios to a different version? if so which one, and with what tool?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh also i am also having an issue where it says something about recovering lost dimms and restarts, after awhile it just boots up but its quite annoying -_-

i would update to the latest version from gigabytes website, use a usb stick and qflash, could try pressing alt/f12 at splash screen to make sure both bios chips have the same bios version on them

what qpi/vtt voltage are you using? if set to auto how much does it set it to in the bios? you may need anything between 1.35-1.4v+ with 12gb of ram,and manually set dram voltage to whats printed on your ram, either 1.5v or 1.66v

According to EasyTune5 my QPI/Vtt Voltage says power on = 1.15v i changed the target to 1.36 just now made no difference, the DRAM voltage is 1.54. I know this sounds bad but GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 2.0) thats the site I am on should I be installed the beta driver at the top or the one right underneath saying make sure i use the up to date @bios

Oh it should also probally be said that I dont know where to go to change any of those settings unless its in easytune :p

since you are on such a old bios you have to use @bios to flash the bios.

Make sure you download the latest version.. When you flash make sure you place a check in the box to clear DMI Pool data.

After you have flashed the bios it is recommend that you update the back up bios so the Main bios and Back up bios will match. At start hold down either ALT+F12 or CTRL+F12.. I can not remember which does which. One will copy the main bios to the back up the other will copy the back up bios to the main bios.

After you have updated the latest bios you can continue to use qflash. Q-flash just needs to be updated to handle the larger bios file size.

I tried flashing with @bios on the newly downloaded bios and i tried using @bios to update from the internet it reached 100% and has a runtime error every time. When I try and update from the newly downloaded bios it says could not load ROM image from BIN file maybe bin file size not match

You have to use @bios to flash. What version of windows are you using? Make sure your os is fully updated.

un install your version of @bios and try this one. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/motherboard_utility_gbttools_gbt_atbios_@BIOS v.2.12 B11.0519.1.exe

Try running @bios as administrator if you have vista/7

Is this a brand new build or this a old build and suddenly lost 2gb of ram?

If its a new build I would remove the cpu and check the cpu socket for bent pins. If you have a camera take some pics of the socket in a well lite area. Post them here and we can check for you. If you have no bent pins check each memory stick sepperatly makeing sure each stick works. Then add them in, in different combos checking each slot and see if you have a bad slot.

If that all checks out then its a matter of having the correct votlages set.
