Very nice. GFlops are right on the money. For me they scale good but a bit less than the CPU, e.g. if the CPU is OCed 32% GFlops increase by about 30%, and your are scaling same as CPU since the baseline I took at 3.4GHz.

You had to change multiplier anyway to go above 4GHz, however, we still have to get over that FSB barrier if we want to go much higher.
You made a few "shortcuts" that may had the solutions, e.g. MCH Reference 0.72, and more important, a higher CPU Reference. Every system is different, some need higher some need less than default.
And of course, there are the skews (which for some reason profJim don't like).

Memtest86+ test #5 is not much of a stress but it is the one that most of the time fails. If you already did Prime95 there's no need to repeat it.

Don't forget to save a BIOS profile after all tests (or even before).

Have you tested your games, especially those who use a lot of CPU to see the differences?

Negative - not yet, been too busy playing with settings and rebooting

So, what approach shall we take next to get over the FSB Barrier? I presume I should set back to 3.90Ghz to work on that, and we should try tweaking other settings?

As previously posted, none of the methods I tried got me through a successful Memtest

Yes, I've gotten quite obsessive about managing my BIOS profiles

Will take it "by the book" aproach.
Keep going higher untill you hit a wall again.

That's OK as long you have the "final" stable profiles, you can save them to a USB flash-drive too.

Alrighty, the overnight blend test was successful, so from my last posted setup I changed to:

    459 x 9.0 x 1094
Results: Failed Memtest during (1) Pass of Test #5

I then changed DRAM voltage two clicks up to 2.04
Results: Failed Memtest during (1) Pass of Test #5

I then put DRAM voltage back to 2.00 and changed MCH Reference two clicks lower to 0.70
Results: Failed Memtest during (1) Pass of Test #5

I then returned MCH Reference to 0.74 and changed SSM to 2.00B, leaving tRD at 8
Result: No boot (with constant beeping)

I then changed tRD to 9
Result: No boot (with no beeping)

I then changed tRD to 10
Result: Boots and passes 1 pass of memtest, test #5.

Should we try fine-tuning other settings, or is this the approach you would have me continue with?

    hiya,.Thought I'd drop a post.

will post my bios settings in the other thread tommorrow morning,

    I'm at 2.00D ssm 9
    1.2750 Vcore.
And followed your helpful MCH Reference at 0.74 and will probably drop lower like you did as well.

Running Prime 95 with 9x460 multiplier now.

    Good luck,.

Yes, Chike was right on the money with the MCH Reference. Started right up! And looks like we both have great chips as far as still not having to touch the VCore. I feel like I'm floundering about though without Coach right now haha. He seems to like to fine-tune at every block before moving ahead. I like that approach - seems to minimize as many variables as possible before we get to the end, but I'm still working on the whole knowing-what-I'm-doing thing

Good luck with the stress test!

I'd go with SMM 2.00D instead, tRD 10 too high.

Do you have something against MCH Reference 0.72? It's not personal I hope.

For the time being set MCH Core at 1.24v, we can lower it back later.

Try 1 to 3 clicks higher CPU Reference for MCH 0.74, 0.72, and 0.70.
Then(if still not stable) lower CPU Reference with MCH Reference 0.72(which you skipped last time)

If still not stable try higher VTT (1.22, 1.24) repeating MCH Reference test (074, 0.72, 0.70, CPU Reference at auto) then with CPU above and below default.

I would also try 50-100ps on each of the clock skews(the other on 0) with the most stable(but not nesessaraly stable) settings for each VTT (1.2, 1.22, 1.24)
