If you are installing Windows XP you need to use the F6 install driver method with ahci and or raid.

Windows 7 should have no issues installing with out supplying a driver.

If you still have issues for what ever reason try like chike said install windows with sata ports configured as IDE install windows (cross fingers all works) then edit registry to switch modes. Reboot install the drivers. Reboot enter bios and make change to raid or ahci and then boot to windows.

    Chike,

Gonna try your slipstream idea. Found a slipstream program that I could even understand called "nLite" and just had my modded XP install disc pop out of the Burner. It was so easy to do I won't even mind having to do once or twice more to get it right.

    Acebmxer,

I noted that your F11d BIOS update as well as the Beta F11d Gigabyte update I previously used (from links given to me on these forums) are the same size. Is yours probably the one I already installed or just to be on the safe side re-update the BIOS just to be sure?

    Deafty,

You're makin' my head hurt. I'm gonna try my Modded XP Install disk before accepting your reality.

If you're askin' if my XP Install disc is the latest service pack, no, it's only SP1 but if this works I don't mind waitin' awhile for updates. I'll be too busy gigglin' like I've been sniffin' Nitrous Oxide to even care.

    Acebmxer,

The one's I downloaded from Gigabyte have today's date, probably due to the fact of simply downloading it. I see yours has 7/27/11 tho'.

sorry for late delay. I can not find the information right now to show you. But I can say with certainty that the bios you downloaded from gigabyte will be the original unmodified version of the bios . That bios has been out for a while now. I can not find the exact date when it was release. If you search the beta bios thread here on this forum and find the post that stasio posted when he got the bios you will find its older then the 7/27/11 date that is on my bios.

I still suggest you try the bios I gave you as I am sure it will have the more update Option roms in the bios.

Well, I got a little farther. It manged to get past the Starting Windows screen and I was actually able to select the hard drive and it installed the OS system. On it's next reboot tho' it gave me "hit any key to boot from CD..... Error loading operating system"

    At least no BSOD!

It was like it couldn't find the AHCI Driver again when it needed it. Now I did have to make 2 modded CD installs because during nLite Mod Creation I did select "Remove after Install" thinking once the operating system was up and running it would take care of the needed driver by itself (shootin' from the hip here). But thinking that was my problem I made a second Install mod WITHOUT that selected. Still came up with the Error loading Operating System" tho'.

    Kinda scratchin' my head here.

    Acebmxer,

Gonna finally try your BIOS update and roll the dice again, as you can see from my last post I got a bit farther along but still got hung up on a re-boot.
