4x2GB configuration may not be possible to set at 1066 but we can give it a try.
Load Optimized defaults and make the following changes in M.I.T:
    Code:
    DRAM Performance Control
    Performance Enhance ------------------- : [Standard]
Extreme Memory Profile --- (X.M.P.) --- : [Disabled] <--- Ignore if not present
    System Memory Multiplier -------------- : [4.00A]
DRAM Timing Selectable ---------------- : [Manual] <-- set to MANUAL for overclocking

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time -------- ?? ---------- : [5]
    tRCD ------------------- ?? ---------- : [5]
    tRP --------------------- ?? ---------- : [5]
    tRAS ------------------- ?? ---------- : [15]

    Advanced Timing Control

    Channel A/B Timing Settings

    Channel A/B
    Static tRead Value --------------------- : [7] <--- try 6 and 5 later

    MCH/ICH
    MCH Core ---------------- 1.100V ------- : [1.16] <--- increase gradually if needed up to 1.26v

    DRAM
DRAM Voltage ------------ 1.800V ------- : [2.2] <--- check the stiker on the modules, increase if needed
If the system boots it is recommended to run memtest86+ before running windows.
Also recommended to run Prime95 blend torture for 6+ hours, or at least large FFT torture for a couple of hours.

    hi,
I tried with your suggestion and I was unable to start Win7. What are the best settings for optimal 4x2GB?
    Thanks

Did you try higher MCH Core settings up to 1.26?
You might do better starting with System Memory Multiplier = 2.50A for 800MHz memory speeds.
See http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post295784, post #5 for suggested manual settings for stock systems.
If you provide the information in steps 1 -4 in the post, we can better help you get your system running optimally.
You might not be able to run your memory at 1066 speeds.
I'm using 8GB of HyperX T1 memory in my P35 system with memory at 874MHz with tighter memory timings = 4-4-4-10.
There is virtually no difference in real world performance running with 800MHz with tight memory timings versus 1066MHz with looser 5-5-5-15 timings.
Once your 8GB memory is stable at lower speeds, you can probably run with 1000MHz memory speeds and possibly higher.

It is impossible to give you stable settings, every system is different, even if built with the same componants.

Did you run memtest86+ perior to running windows?
You can download an installer for a USB flash-drive from memtest86+ site.
To boot from a USB flash-drive press F12 during post, and select USB-HDD.

Can you please post the maximum settings you have tried and failed?

The settings I recommend "Chike". I need anything, just that my system works.

In this setting has not been started:

    DRAM Performance Control
    ------------------- Performance Enhance [Standard]
--- Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) ---: [Disabled] <--- Ignore if not present
    System Memory Multiplier -------------- [4.00]
DRAM Timing Selectable ---------------- [Manual] <- set to MANUAL for overclocking

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time --------? ---------- [5]
    tRCD -------------------? ---------- [5]
    tRP ---------------------? ---------- [5]
    tRAS -------------------? ---------- [15]

    Advanced Timing Control

    Channel A / B Timing Settings

    Channel A / B
    Static Tread --------------------- Value: [7] <--- try 6 and 5 later

    MCH / ICH
    MCH Core 1.100V ---------------- -------: [1.16] <--- Increase gradually if needed up to 1.26v

    DRAM
DRAM Voltage 1.800V ------- ------------ [2.2] <--- check the sticker on the modules, increase if needed

    any solutions
    thnx

Try more MCH Core, up to 1.28v.
What are the memory voltage specs as printed on their stikers or package?

OK then try to increase DRAM Voltage up to 2.3v too.
