Default Help!!! Motherboard will not post Error C1

Hi, new to this forum and need advice.

I have been using this unit for nearly two years now, On Monday evening the unit just hanged while using internet.
Could only force a hard shutdown as no other method worked.
Upon trying to reboot. The system will not post and will show fault C1 on LED display on motherboard.

I have tried 10 different sticks of ram so i can assume it is not a problem with the memory
I also tried reseating all components and swapping graphic card
I have sent the motherboard to supplier and they have said no fault has been found and works fine.

Can anyone help as I am completely confused with what is causing this problem.

    My computer specs
    Intel Core I7 920
    Motherboard Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Bios F12
    Corsair 3 X 4GB 1600mhz
Gigabyte HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 DVI VGA HDMI HDCP PCI-E Graphics Card
    Corsair HX520 PSU

    Many Thanks

Have you removed CPU before you had this problem? C1e is a memory related error, could be CPU memory controller error too but less likely, have you removed mb battery and left out overnight then put back and try?

Tested with just one stick of ram in any white slot? Test all three slots,it will boot up with one stick in any white slit if all is well

    Hi,

    Many thanks for the reply.
The computer was fine and no parts were removed prior to the fault.

I have tried 10 different sticks of ram in each individual single white slot. I will try removing the battery and leave overnight and see if the problem will cure.
As I do not know anyone who owns a motherboard with X58 chipset I cannot test if the CPU is the culprit.

    P.S can a PSU cause a C1 Error

Once again many thanks for your help

I don't know about psu,I wouldn't rule it out though, the only thing you can do is to test with each component to rule them out,try to borrow another psu to try same thing for graphics card, clearing the cmos overnight by battery removal might fix it,if none of those things do the only thing left that hasn't been tried is your CPU,they have 3year warranty though if you wanted to rma it,I think its something else though, cpu's are pretty tough

    Hi,

I have tried a different graphics card, and still same problem.
Only other solution i have not tried is using different PSU. if removing battery does not cure this problem. I will try obtain a PSU to test.

As for RMA on the CPU, unfortunately the place where i bought this OEM chip has now gone bust, and I don't think intel do direct RMA on OEM CPU's

Once again thank you for your advice

they should do rma, normally its first year with retailer then its direct with manufacturer,if you had mb tested then they would use different cpu,psu gpu and memory, since youve tested with other brands of memory and graphic card it only leaves your psu and cpu to test and a psu is quicker to test than cpu rma so i would do that

sometimes a badly corrupted cmos or hardware detection problems can happen resulting in c1e error code plus other error codes and best way to be 100% sure is be patient and leave mb battery out overnight

    Hi,

Ok, I refitted the battery to the board and tried new PSU, Still no luck.
I am beggining to think it is the memory controller on the CPU, unless the supplier I RMA'd the board to is telling porkies.

    Many Thanks,
